  1. Hi all...
Now, I know dry is not the best thing you can feed your cat..., but where I live, the meat source is not safe, thus preventing me from raw-feeding, and we don't have a wide selection of wet food either...

And until recently, good-quality dry food is also not available. however, I just found someone who privately ships better quality cat food to indonesia, and he has a few selections. Well.., he sells the foods rather pricey though, so I guess I have to narrow the choices down to those that meet my budget...

It's either avoderm, eagle pack or nurture (by sunshine mills).

And don't worry, I still feed wet food to my cats every day, too... Along with steamed chicken :)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  2. Do you know the ingrediants for Nurture? I found their site but they don't list ingrediants.

Between Eagle Pack and Avoderm Eagle Pack has the better ingrediants. The kitten formula is the best one though it probably only comes in small bags. The other good one of theirs is the Adult Cat formula.

Also with Eagle Pack a cat would only need 1/2 a cup a day (a cup is 500 calories). So that would probably last much longer.

  3. Thank you... I will take this into consideration.. :)
This private importer also have a wide variety *happy*
He has chicken soup, evo, taste of the wild... But these foods are way beyond my price range :(

Oh, he also has another brand, ProSeries (it's canadian). I read the ingredients in the website, and it's actually quite good!
    Here's the ingredients:
Chicken meal, whole oats, whole brown rice, chicken fat, fish meal, dried eggs, brewer's yeast, kelp meal, fish oil, dried cranberries, dried blueberries, green peas, rosemary, tomato pomace, dried fennel, safflower, mint leaves, ground sage, ginger.

Do you think this is good enough? Because it costs almost half of eagle pack! :)

Also, I think I will get some avoderm wet food...

I never thought shopping for cats could be this exciting! :D

  4. I think it is really about equal to eagle pack. Again though the kitten one is better (higher protein and fat) but I'm guessing it only comes in the smaller sized bags. Otherwise the adult one. Though since you have kittens the kitten one would probably be healthier for them.

EVO here in the US costs $25 for a 6 pound bag! I can imagine it would be a ton more than that to get it there :)

Other ones to ask if they can get for you (and if they are cheap enough):

    Blue Buffalo Wilderness

Blue Buffalo Kitten (they have large bags of kitten food, not the wimpy 6 pound ones)

    Natural Balance

    Nature's Variety Prairie or Instinct

    Wellness CORE or Wellness Kitten

Though I would guess that those would be more expensive than ProSeries and ProSeries is very good especially for being half the price of Eagle Pack which is about equal quality. Though if they are cheaper, those are some of the very good brands here.

I'm excited every week to go to the grocery stores and get meat and all the things I need to make the farm cats food :) So if its wierd, your not the only one lol!

Oh, I'm not going to be able to get on the computer again till late on Wednesday night so probably won't be able to reply again unless I do tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

  5. Happy New Year, FF50! May you have a good and blessed year ahead :)

I'm having a slight problem right now because my bf is not really into cats, and he can't understand why I put so much time, energy and money for cats... But he's not angry or anything, in fact he is very polite about it.. But anyway, that's for me to think about...

Now on the cat food side.., the price of Evo in the US equals the price of ProPlan in Indonesia... :( and indonesians personal income on average is about 30% of americans...) So yes, it's no wonder that only whiskas and friskies (thailand-made) are popular... :) and why most people can't afford spaying... (Me included!)

As for me, me and my mom split the bill on cat food. Well, she buys the food, and I chip in whenever necessary :p
She is quite well-off (thank God), while I am not. Sometimes I even wonder, if this is all worth it... But I love all my cats without question...
