  1. My cat is giving birth right now (I was too late when I want her spayed). She had a boy, who seems healthy. Problem is, mom don't know how to nurse. I tried to teach her, after all, she is a first time mom.

But after awhile I noticed that she's tense. And when I looked down, there's this huge bulging balloon in her vagina. Some kind of a sack, maybe, but its empty. I tried to touch, and it is surprisingly dry. It also has veins. I'm soooo scared. Could it be her womb coming out? Or other birth disorders?

I tried to ask my mom to drive me to the vet, but she just scolded me, saying that I meddle too much into this cat business, and to let the momma cat alone. She just kept yelling at me about other things too, so I just left.

Its impossible for me to go by myself to the nearest vet because I live in a rural area with no public transport, and I don't drive. I depend on my mom for transport, and she won't help me. She won't even look at the cat..!

I'm so scared.. I just want the momma cat and kitten to be well and happy. Pls help me, what can I do about her? And what is possibly the balloon/sack?

I tried googling but can't find anything..

    Thanks

  2. Turned out to be another baby after all... Another tuxedo girl... :) just like michi...

But seems like momma cat is not producing too much milk... I tried giving her some kitten food, but she still didn't want to eat. Hope she eats well soon, thus produce more milk!

Remind me to get her spayed in 3 month's time...

  3. Its normal for cats to not eat for about 24 hours after they have given birth. Don't be suprised if she eats the sacks the kittens were in and the after birth. They do that in the wild to get rid of the smell of blood so no preditors find their kittens. In a house it doesn't seem to be much differant!

If she doesn't have much milk can you try give her canned food? The extra moisture would be really good for her, maybe even add water to the canned to make it soupy.

I've seen tons of cows give birth (and have had to help pull lots of calves) but have only seen cats a few times. Still, every time I see an animal have babies it is still a miracle :)

  5. Sadly, the babies died.
They just dissapeared. Perhaps momma cat ate them? Or could it be one of the males?
I was sad for days, because I saw how the babies had a strong will to live. They cried soooooo loud, and always fought to find a nipple. But as I said, momma cat is a stray, and I didn't think she produced much milk. They babies only lived 24 hours. And I'm spaying momma cat in february.
