I am quite spoiled by a/c I have to admit, have seen some cool house designs where the air flows thru the house and keeps it a decent temp. or rammed earth concept houses....those always catch my eye. I put a security door on the front door so I can open it for the fresh air (even though it blows in all the outside allergens from the trees) and the added plus is that the cats love to lie in the sun there.

Oh, yes, earth houses and straw bale houses, I always find them fascinating as well. They always look so cool and I love the way the builders can customise them to your needs -- a niche here, a curved wall there. And I love their thick walls, they remind me of old stone cottages. If we got the same desert temperatures you did, Deb, then we would need air conditioning but NZ is a temperate climate -- well, most of the time and supposedly! I did occasionally worry about security, leaving the front door open all the time, but the only screen doors you can get here look really ugly...
And the bonus to the windows working again is that Libs can jump in and out of the living room window again, like she used to, instead of just appearing there and me having to go and open the front door (and Jasper lies in wait for her at the front step and jumps on her....) It worked when Libs was a kitten but then broke like all the others... didn't stop her expecting me to open it for her though...

It will be nice for all of your windows to work properly and the added bonus for Libs will be good for her. One of my friends here built her walls using straw bales and covered them with stucco, with them being free-form they look nice. I love the security doors, it gives me the chance to have the door open while not feeling really vunerable to any crazy wandering around. Living in the city or rather here in the U.S. is so different than living overseas. I never locked my doors in Italy, we had the heavy roll-down window coverings that no one could lift much less break into if they were used. But yet one could close them so that they still had a slight opening and the air could flow thru.
How is Ms. Libs doing today?

She seemed quite good today, Deb, more like her old self, of course she disappeared while Ted was here, doing the windows, but we even had one of our wee chasing games. I was very glad to see it but I'm still whipping her into the vet first thing Tuesday morning, I hope Craig -- Jasper's vet -- is back, but we'll take whoever's there.

Tell them to make a fuss over her so she feels special, maybe she won't be quite as fearful. I did buy a hard drive today to back up my home computer and even d/l Skype so I can see the grandbaby.

Well, I will be in there with her so what usually happens is the vet tries to examine her and I try to stop her slinking off the exam table and disappearing under, behind or in the nearest impenetrable hiding place (luckily not many of those in the vets)...
Deb, that's wonderful that you're getting Skype so you'll be able to see the baby and the baby can see you! How exciting!
Eek, I've just seen the time. It's nearly 1.30, and Ted is coming back tomorrow (yes, he's working on another holiday!) so I will actually have to get up in the morning -- luckily not at sparrowfart, even though he's a builder he doesn't like getting up early either...
Nighty-night, Deb, scritches to the Crew for me!

G'night and sleep well, even if Ted doesn't know it he is appreciated for his work ethics, scritches to Libs and Jasper in the morning.
