Hi Kilroy! Nope, no rules if the money just ain't there...serious cashflow issues. I will get paid eventually, and it's better (just) than being made redundant.

Mike is out looking for jobs today. He's had the worst time. He's been applying to hundreds of jobs on craigslist and the internet and job sites ranging from anything to a "real" salary job to jobs at cafes and stores. He's been looking for 4 weeks now. Absolutely ZERO responses! They all brush him off and say to apply online and nobody gets back to him. He's gone to places all over the city resume in hand and just nobody is taking it.
It's sad that a person with 2 BA degrees and a 4.0 GPA who has even managed a coffee shop cannot get a job doing ANYTHING. We're starting to get worried since his school loan only covers through 2 more weeks. Here's to hoping he finds something today.
Pre-Christmas is always a lousy time to look for permanent work Gini, let alone during a recession. I'm sure now all that's out of the way he'll find something quickly. {{{hugs}}}

Thanks MCW, I hope so. If he doesn't I'll probably take out extra in my loan for spring schooling just in case so I can be sure we can cover our rent until he finds something. I feel so bad for him. He is so frustrated and down lately since he can't find anything. I wish I knew what to do to help or where to look
Gini, all paws crossed here for Mike! I totally understand what he is going thru. Went thru that myself and it is a very scary time and place to be. Weren't you guys going to move? If so, when? Won't it be cheaper when you move? Hopefully that will help the cash flow!

OOH, rough! Betty and Wilma will get down on their paws and pray really hard then! At least there is an end in sight. Might be tight until then but its not forever.

MCW..Oh my..I hope work is not too crazy for you and that you get paid really really really soon!
((Gini)) I feel so bad for you and Mike. I hope he finds something soon and you both can be at ease. That is the worst feeling when it's about money. it's scary.

Hmmmm...according to the news, the country's running out of grit for the roads...and according to a long range weather forecast I checked earlier, the temp isn't going to get above freezing during the DAY, and at least minus 4 (this is centigrade folks) overnight for the next 2.5 weeks...eep!

They put grit on the roads in the UK??? That is a terrible waste of grits! I hope they at least put butter down, too!

*drags* into the Cafe.... uuugghhh!... first day of the New Year back to work!....
.... I was up early, dressed and out the door - beat the traffic, and at the office w**king productively..... untill.... 10 am I get a call on my cell from our house alarm system "it's had a motion signal go off"!....None of the door/window contacts were breeched, so I knew it was the cats that set if off! (second time this has happenend)... when we had the alarm installed, the interior motion sensors were supposed to be *40 lbs* and over.... ok, now I know Cuddles is fat, but SHE'S NOT 40LBS!!!!! LOL.... so I had to call the alarm guy to come over tomorrow to adjust it.... meanwhile I had to "drop" what I was doing, and race home to reset the alarm, and turn the OBNIXIOUSLY LOUD siren off (Abby and Cuddles are deaf by this point and pi$$ed)..... so I run in, reset the alarm, run out, shut the door and realize 'I LOCKED MY KEYS INSIDE AGAIN'!!!!!....*smugly* I remember that the last time I did this, I had a "secret" key made, and hid it in the garage!.... I go to get it, and discover that the "college" ones must have used it over the holidays, and do you think it's where it's supposed to be??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!... remember that Hubbs, Son, Daughter and MIL are all out of town!!aarrgghhh!!... so I have to wait 1 1/2 hrs for BIL to arrive.... by this time, my day is shot!!!!!
.....takes a deep breath and "hyper-venilates".....
AV........Besides the fact that you need your own secret key, not shared with, or acknowledged with the the other members of the household, would be a good thing. We too, have had numerous incidences with the motion detector going off with just kitties in the house. The co. came out and re-adjusted several times to no avail. I ended up putting masking tape over the sensors. The heck with them!!! Also the PD was going to start charging us for all the "faulty" alarms they were responding to!! Aggravating!!!

First day back at school today - an INSET day. The heating wasn't working in some parts of the school, then there was a power cut so all the computers went down and then just as I managed to get on with some work a new colleague arrived and asked for help so I spent hours with her. I missed lunch and ended up cold, hungry and frustrated. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Did I mention that it was -5C as I drove to work, so a mite chilly.
