I saw the neurosurgeon today for a surgical followup. He was disappointed to see I wasn't doing far better than I am. He said he honestly thought this would be a really "quick fix" and I would be back to work in two weeks after surgery. "Technically" it was pretty easy but my healing just hasn't happened the way he hoped. He is disturbed I still have nausea and headaches. He said he is worried I have another Cerebral Spinal Fluid Leak (CSF) somewhere else, am leaking from where they fixed me OR may need a permanent shunt. I have to go for another follow up in four weeks and will have another scan to look for excess CSF throughout my brain and spinal cord. At that point we will make a game plan. Until then I will remain medicated. You can't imagine my excitement with that great news. I told him my New Year's resolution was to "break up" with him and go seperate ways! He said "Not a chance!". I can however look for a water aerobics class to increase my activity level and decrease muscle atrophy.

Well so much for dumping him, lol. Sorry had to throw that in there, your doctor at least sounds like he is working like a good doctor should be.

Oh Amy I am so sorry. Not the news you were hoping for, but at least the doc is going to keep helping you and not just ignore the pain/nausea the way some do. Sending many healing prayers your way!

Amy, I am so sorry to hear this too. BUT water aerobics, that is wonderful. I look forward to each day of them. However with the temps at 28 in the a.m. even though the pool is heated, it is a tad too cold. Brrrrrr.

Amy, it just breaks my heart that you have gone through so much and then learn about this. I can only tell you that you are always in my prayers. I wish that I could do more than just send a virtual hug but ......{{{{{{{{Amy}}}}}}}}

Bummer. I'm so sorry Molly, but at least your Neuro sounds like a good guy, and I'm sure he will eventually get you sorted so you can break up with him... {{{hugs}}} and lots of them.

This isn't the news you wanted, but until you are cured isn't it best to have him around? He is trying to get everything taken care of, so that you can lead a pain free life. Hang in there and remember you have many praying for you. May you heal and be restored to a pain free existance able to live an active life!

Oh Amy, I'm sorry that you are still having so many problems. You was hoping this surgery would take care of everything. Does your local high school have a pool facility? Mine does, and they offer cheap classes and open pool time for very little money. I used to go to the YMCA but they have become quite expensive.

Sorry this was not the news you wanted, MC. Try to stay upbeat and well. Continued prayers for you. (hugs)
