  1. I am so far behind and still find the holiday spirit elusive. In lieu of snail mail or e-mail cards... please consider this my greeting to all of you to have a health, happy and love-filled holiday season. Now... check this out...

  17. OP, don't worry about that "elusive holiday spirit" the true holiday spirit is a quiet one which sneaks up on you on Christmas Eve when the so-called Christmas Spirit has taken an intermission. The peace and quiet. Remember the end of the first Charlie Brown's Christmas? "And it came to pass that a [census] would be taken..." That is the true spirit of Christmas. Jesus came into the world in a stable (more likely a cave) in a land rent by war and poverty--much like our own. Greeted not with majesty and the must have gift of the year but with cold, peace, star, shepherds, animals, and perhaps, who knows, a little drummer boy. Betcha his Mother loved that one!

Don't seek the Christmas spirit, let the Christmas Sprit find you, as you go about your life staying strong, doing what you have to do, with what you have, holding your head high. Be grateful for what you have, knowing that others are worse off than you. Go to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or both and find peace, quiet, joy and yes the true holiday spirit there.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. You know OP you and I have lived long enough to know that some Christmases are truly Glorious and others just plain Suck. Well, you and I can just put this one down to being one of the latter. But that sin't the true meaning of Christmas as we both know. Take care!

  18. Yankee stay on your soapbox..that was beautiful and inspiring...Merry Christmas

    Posted 4 years ago by 2bpurring #

  19. Yankee, you and OP can add me to the list of people who are having sucky Christmases!

  20. Thanks for the link to the snowglobe and your holiday good wishes. I wish you happy holidays with many purrs and headbonks from my kits to yours.

  22. Terri..hon..we all understand why you're having a hard season...To tell you the truth..it's funny...if it wasn't for TDK...there would be no sign of Christmas in my home or otherwise. All evidence of it is here on the screen in front of me.Having others to think about, care about, such as you Terri, and Shelley's family, and so many others, Pipa's Mum, Huddy's Mama, Honda Fonda, MadCatWoman, and Our Dearest Jo in Blairsville has made me forget myself for a bit. Thinkin' good thoughts for my little sis Susie as she struggles daily with her 9 cat boxes and kitty blankets. It just dawned on me that this family has filled a void in so many more ways than I can count. I have no tree, no decorations, my family is all out of state, and no money for gifts..But none of that is bothering me at all...This season with all the TDKers has me filled with an abundance of Christmas Spirit...Thank You All! And Terri I'm still praying your health will improve hon. *thinking..Life is Reality without an Eraser*

  23. Well OP it looks like we are not alone in having sucky commercialized Christmases. But you know, I bet for years, we all have been promissing ourselves that we have got to cut back on this madness. Well, folks this year we did--we cut back. Course, I didn't mean to end everything, but don't you feel virtuous being greener? Yes indeedy! And when your neighbors, family, and other friends ADD to the landfills and global warming, WE can feel virtuous that we did not this year. We celebrated a simple quiet Christmas like the first one.

Ahem, I'm available for a visit from the Three Kings come January 6th (Little Christmas) bringing GOLD, something and myyrh. Actually, if you bring enough of the first, I'll pick up the second two on my own. Hey, they'll be on sale.
Seriously, OP, I do hope you feel better now. At least, I hope I put a smile on your face. Take care! And what I said about the true mening of Christmas, I really do believe that.

  24. I love snowglobes. Thank you for this one, it was fun to shake up! And thank you, yankee, for expressing your thoughts. The spirit of Christmas is more than this short season, I hope that we can all maintain it the year around, being kind to others (and ourselves as needed), fulfilling needs as they arise, and keeping spirits uplifted as best we can. Make it contagious. Peace be with you all.

  29. OP, thank you so much, I love snow globes and would go nuts collecting them but who has the room for such things! I have 5 cats now, so room is at a premium, lol. Bless you and may the holidays bring better days ahead.

  30. OP, thank you. What fun. Let us all hope that 2008 brings a refreshing new beginning for all those having such difficulties just now.

I am not decorating this year because with 21 rambunctious furrbies it would be a disaster. I am trying to come up with a new way to feel festive without my pretty tree and all the trimmings from yesteryears. I will miss the glow of the tree lights and window candles, the feeling of expectation in the air, and all the family members that made it special for me. Having said that, and feeling blue about what isn't anymore, I do have these new family members and need to find a way to create a new tradition with my 4 legged family.

I did get myself a present this year - I had outdoor electric sockets installed on my patio and bought an electric warming bowl and bird bath warmer. The bowl is for water, but I use it for the feral cats canned food, and I placed the bird bath so that the cats and birds can share the water. Easier for me so I don't have to run outside every 1/2 hour with hot water and nice that the cats have nice warm food for more than 5 minutes.

I know I have gone off track but guess I needed to think and feel this morning. I have been sitting here for over an hour remembering the people from my past and the sweet memories of those Christmas seasons. All of you that share your feelings and love are what gets me through, and make me realize that the abundance of TLC here is really Christmas everyday.

Not going back to re-read or edit anything. Just want to say that I love all of you and your furrbies too.
