  1. It's early on Saturday morning, and today is the first of three pirate parades here in Tampa. Today, about 300,000 people will attend the "childrens" parade.... there will be a gabillion beads, coins and other trinkets thrown, and the whole town will be shut down!!! it will end with a magnificent fireworks display out over Tampa Bay.....

.... since I dare not venture out of the house today (traffic is a nightmare)....Panera Bread Co. has graciously agreed to cater breakfast, and Starbucks will provide beverages!...... come start your day, and enjoy the early festivities!...... I'll try and save some beads for everyone!

  3. Pirates did you say Pirates????? How cool is that, except that I hate crowds lol! Morning AV :)

Still haven't made it to Panera Bread Co yet, there was one directly across the street from my daughter's place but they don't seem to care for it much.

  4. Morning Deb!..... Panera is decadent!.... it makes the most amazing pastries, sweet rolls and sticky buns.... of course, virtural sugar means nothing here on TDK! LOL....

Yes, I hate crowds too, that's why I hide in my house during the parades!... I live only one block from the Bayshore where this extravanza takes place, so no way would I dare try and take my car out!..... usually I sit on my front porch and just watch the "hords" go bye!.... Last year, Son bused down about 30 fraternity brothers & dates, and they had an absolute blast!..... I grilled hot dogs on the porch - man can those kids eat! LOL.. it was major fun!

  5. Good Morning! I love parades, but I don't like crowds either. It's 21 here; I would sooo love to have a bit of Tampa weather right now!
I'll have a sticky bun and a big mug of hot chocolate.

  6. LOL see now I could sit on a porch and watch them or the crowds go by, just not into the josteling of the crowds. My daughter is taking a pastry making class this weekend at some chef's school in Chicago. Told her to remember how to make the good stuff, no pretty but bland pastry...I am a grandma now so I can eat the 'good' stuff! Let's see how that works out, probably not at all but what the heck had to take a shot at it.

  7. Morning Joan, our weather is a bit better than that just wet right now :)

  8. Not only does Panera have great pastries, bagels and such, their soups and sandwiches are great, too! I will have a cinnamon crunch bagel with butter, please and some coffee. I didn't sleep well and I'm tired :(

  9. slides Joan a large sticky bun, dripping with gooey icing, and a tall mug of hot chocolate!..... 21 (eeek)..... two weeks ago, Tampa had record cold spell (highs in the low 40's lows below freezing) for about a week!..... everyone went crazy, we don't know how to handle more than a day of cold!.... of course, it's gone now, and the temps are in the low 70's.... beautiful and sunny for the parade!....

..... Deb, I have college ones, so I'm not quite to the "grandma" stage yet, but I have friends that are!..... I'm looking forward to playing with babies again, and then getting to "give them back"!..... LOl

  10. GD, you snuck in!.... yes, I love Panera's soup and samis too!.... please tell me your apt. situation is better and that the bugs are under control!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  11. Well its that time again and of course the guys have had shift change and now we have tons of work to do in the next hour.....have a great day!!

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  12. Living situation is the same, AV. I haven't seen any bugs in about a month - maybe the cold took care of them? Been staying mostly at GG's so it's okay for the most part.

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  13. well, good that you have GG!.... I hope things are going well with the two of you! Have you ever driven over to Tampa for the parades? It's loads of fun!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  14. I haven't AV, it sounds like a lot of fun. Since I work 6 days a week it's hard for me to really get out of town much. GG and I have talked about taking a trip at some point, though - probably not a real long one, but it would be nice to get away just a little.

  15. Happy Caturday! I will have a toasted Choc Chip Bagel with lowfat Raspberry Cream Cheese and a Low Fat Strawberry Smoothie. My head is acting up a little today, I think the week was tooooooo long.

  16. It's getting warmer in the house; hubby got the woodburner going. Leela is chattering to her birds from the kitchen window.
We're kitty sitting for neighbors this weekend so we'll wander down the street in a bit. Today I MUST get the Christmas stuff put away. It's all down, but in a pile in the other room. First I'm going to put something in the crockpot. I've got beef cubes, celery, carrots, potatoes and various soups, so that should make the house smell really good later.

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  17. Joan, you will be appalled to learn I still haven't taken down my Christmas tree!!! I'm hoping to do that this weekend. My place needs to get straightened up, but I haven't been feeling well enough to do it.

I'm tired and can't wait to get out of here at one. I may stop at Panera to meet my friend for tea after work, if not, I will be going home to take a long nap.

Sorry about your head, MC. Take it easy today.

  18. Ahoy, Everyone! The parade sounds like too much fun! I think that I would have to walk down and take a look.

It's a drizzly day here and we are off shortly for San Antonio to wish Kittymom a very Happy Birthday! (yes, I have my camera!)

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  19. Oh how fun, WWM! Do you have Bobby, too? He loves a birthday party :)
    Have a great time!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  20. Have fun WWM - Happy B-day to Kittymom!
GD, we didn't get tired of our tree; we don't put it up till mid December and since it was Leela first official Christmas, it was all the more enjoyable. Our neighbors had theirs up since Thanksgiving and it's been in their backyard for about 3 weeks.
Yar - I think I'll speak in pirate language today!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  21. Have a great time WWM, and wish KM Happy Purrday for me too!..... we watched the parade for years, but now we just prefer to sit on the porch and watch the hoopla!....... standing in a screaming, shoving, drinking crowd for 6 hours is just not my cup of tea anymore!.... my children will bring me beads!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  22. I never get tired of the tree, either - I've been turning the lights on whenever I'm home. THe boys love it, too, and will be disappointed when I get rid of it.

  23. Morning, all. All is well in the Kilroy household this morning (George can be heard from the next room saying "Whose household?" :)

I stopped by the gym where I'm taking swimming lessons to schedule the next one, and used the elliptical there; bad move, the machines there are all different from the ones I'm used to and after 15 minutes my elbows and shoulders were killing me. I'll go to my regular gym tomorrow to make up for it.

I'm with everyone else who says no crowds, thank you very much. Give me a nice quiet day with husband and cat, and I'm happy. Hope everyone has a good day, however it goes.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  24. Yeah, I know what you mean. I loved sitting by the tree with a book and Leela sitting under it. I knew she would be dissapointed when it came down. Shaddo loved the tree too; he would stake out a spot under it as soon as it went up. Jiggs was mostly into trying to get at the water.

  25. Hi Kilroy!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  26. Hi Joan! *waving*

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  27. That's what I do, Joan - read by the tree with a boy or two under it - it's nice and relaxing.

Good morning, Kilroy - how is Georgie this morning?

  28. Mike's parents are treating us to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch today! Woohoo! Not much else has been new lately. Their ragdoll Shadow has gotten MASSIVE. It blows my mind. He is about 18 pounds compared to Taco's 9 pounds. Yikes!

  29. Hi GD. George is good; he's curled up on his favorite purple blanket right now (blanket was a birthday present to me last year, but he immediately said "MINE"! Who was I to say no?). I found his pink mouse in his food dish when I got home from the gym; I swear he thinks it's a real mouse, but luckily he hasn't tried to eat it yet.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  30. Hi Gini! You sneaked in while I was typing. Let me know if you want me to take a look at your grad school statement. Georgie sends headbonks.
