Looking for a kitten.

  1. I am looking for a new kitten. I am in Northern Colorado and have been trying to find a kitten for the last couple of months. I want a young female kitten who is mostly white. Havent had any luck. the spay and neuter policy here is really strict, which is good, but i dont think there are many kittens. Does anyone know of a cat who has had or is going to have kittens?

  2. Have you considered an older cat? You may be able to find a still young, but not a kitten, cat who needs a furever home.

  3. Are there animal shelters nearby? If there are, you could check with them periodically to see if there's anyone there who meets your preferences. There's also the web site Petfinder that you could check.

  4. I don't think its 'kitten season' right now...usually spring or summer there are more kittens in the shelters than now

  5. Could also try going to the local PetSmart or PetCo and they usually sponsor cats/kittens that need homes.

  6. I too live in Colorado.. there is not a shortage of kittens or cats here. I have fostered and worked with a rescue agency... THere are a plethora of shelters the major ones are;
    Denver Dumb friends league (DDFL)
    MaxFund shelter
    Petfinder.com is awesome
    Cats and kittens can be found for adoption at Catster.com
    Craigs list also has adoptable animals as well.

    If you get a kitten or cat that is not fixed, DDFL has a Mobile program that will alter you kitten or cat for $10.

  7. You will probably have to wait a few months if you want a little kitten, since most of them are born in the spring and summer. I would check petfinder or local shelters in May or June. Also, I am sure there are many nice "adolescent" or young adult cats available for adoption. My fiance got a 7 week kitten in November and we both agree never again... But she is sooo adorable!

  11. Don't worry, when kitten season arrives, I'm sure you'll have plenty of choice. There will be a couple of months when the local shelters etc will be overrun with kittens.
