My (hopefully, ex) FLUTD boy, Joget has been home for 4 weeks, without any complications. He's been doing well on Prescription Diet c/d wet food, and some occasional Royal Canin Urinary SO dry.
However, I read on the net, that these foods are actually not very good. RC Urinary even contains some chemicals that's used to clean furnitures in it.
I'm planning on switching Joe to some better quality food. Eventhough choices are limited here (for canned food, there are only whiskas and friskies), I recently just found a specialty pet store in an upscale part of the city, where the expatriates live, that sells really good foods.
I read very good recommendations on Wellness, and it is available at the store. But is it save to give to Joget, who is in high risk of recurrence? I am thinking of combining both wet and dry, in about 2 times wet and 1 time dry per day?
I've calculated what it would cost, and came to the conclusion that it will even be cheaper than the prescription diets! But of course, that is secondary. I only want what's best for Joe Man.
Also, beside Wellness, the pet store has some other good brands as well, such as Eagle Pack, Taste of The Wild, Dr. Foster and Smith, Chicken Soup for TCLS, and Nature's Variety. All dry. Wet food available are Wellness and Eagle Pack.
Could anyone give me an opinion on this? Should I switch Joe's food or not? If I should, should I do it immediately or wait 1-2 months? Also what brand should be suitable?
Thank you everyone, am looking forward for your answers! :)
