  6. I ususally do auto-drip but have a French Press I use on weekends! I've heard that the old fashioned percalators are on a rebound with a richer brewing method than auto drip! (Tossed/rummaged so many of those throughout the years too!...drat/approx $69 for new too!)

  7. Geez! Never used a French Press.....use my cheap Mr. Coffee and grind the beans with Mr. Coffee's grinder, too :) I haven't had an old perculator around for YEARS! Hey, we should have a MidWest TDK meetup at the Berres Bros site :))) Have you ever been to their store?

  11. Hi JK, how did I know it was you, the java queen, who started this thread?! :)
I rarely drink coffee. I do like the smell though, especially some of the flavored ones, mmmm!

  12. Hmmm how about a dessert made with coffee Joan...to tempt your sweet tooth!
Kat & I will be much obliged!

  13. Katthays, I have the same thermos that is in the vid, but it does not do a very good job of keeping the coffee hot. I am one of those weirdoes who likes coffee, and other hot beverages and soups, hot...really hot. And let's not tell WWM about the addition of salt in the coffee grounds...tee hee.

Posted 2 years ago by Dee #

  14. I was wondering if that was salt...no speakers at w__k...thanks Dee...much obliged for the helpful video! A toast to Dee with some JOE!

Posted 2 years ago by jeankit #

  19. I don't!! ;o)

(like the smell of it though - weird!!)

  20. I remember the old fashioned percolaters! I used them at home and when camping. I can still smell the rich aroma of those first perked cups on a chilly morning right out of the tent & sleeping bag! It was Heaven! Sigh....
Sure hope they do come back. I really do think they brewed a richer cup of coffee than the drip systems. =O

  21. Dee, I, too, am one of those who has to have things hot, hot, hot! I hate going to buffets where the food is lukewarm! And I don't care for the salt idea in coffee, myself. I remember hubs saying he ate coffee jello when he was in college, JeanKit!

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  22. Kat, when I order soup in a restaurant, it is almost always lukewarm. I will request that it be heated up. Tom tells me not to ask that it be heated up because he thinks they are going to take it to the kitchen and spit in it...haha!

Posted 2 years ago by Dee #

  23. Ha ha...Dee, My friend R is picky & sends stuff back...I also wonder if the kitchen wants to add some extra salt or burn the thing for him just beacause!
PS...I did add a few grains of salt to an unflavored cup of coffee at lunch/didn't care for the slimy feel it contributed to the brew!

Posted 2 years ago by jeankit #

  24. You add a pinch of salt to the grounds prior to brewing a pot and it is supposed to open up the flavor.

I am going to be in Wisconsin in May. I will have to look and see if Watertown is on the way to Ashland!

    Posted 2 years ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  25. Kykat...Ashland is North-Central/West and Watertown in South East part of state...at least 400 miles away from each other w/o accurate calculations!
You will need a thermos of coffee to take on the drive up there to keep awake!
