Sam is having surgery tomorrow on his leg. The infection from the abscess has gone into the joint of his leg, they have to clean it out and see how far the infection has gone. I feel like a bad cat owner. Should have seen something was wrong sooner.

This is why I get mad beyond the point of even trying to be rational at people who dont spay their cats. Sam got that abscess from being stuck in the razor wire fence. Sam would never even try to climb that wall, but guess what?? Our new neighbors have a female who's on heat. What male is going to be able to resist that?? And yes, Sam has been neutered. I just wish people can learn to think further than their noses are long. Its not just their cat whose life they are placing in danger, its my cat's life as well. Stupid people. Feel like marching over there right now and informing them of the consequences of their decision not to spay their cat. Not to mention what their poor cat must look like by now - she's been in our yard a few times already, meaning she must be getting stuck in the fence as well.

Good thoughts and healing energy coming Sam's way. How could I not think good things for a cat who shares my beloved Big Guy's name? I'm sure that my Sam, at the Bridge, is looking down and rooting for him, too.

Sam, Willow had a badly broken leg when she was a little feral baby. She had to have surgery and now runs almost as well as most kitties and she can beat up on her bigger sister. We all send our wishes for a speedy recovery, and Willow says to tell you that she knows exactly how you feel.

Skyron, it is the great mystery. Willow was in a tree in our back yard. Her leg was already broken. She wasn't but four or five weeks old and weighed less than a pound. How that little baby got into a tree we will never know. But thank heavens it was a tree in our yard because the people on either side of us don't like cats.

We once had a similar situation when I was little. There was a strange at in our neighbor's tree, and it wouldnt come down. It had been hit by a car, and then crawled into the neighbor's yard, where his rotweiler mauled it, after which it ran up the tree for safety. That kitty also had 2 broken legs. Maybe Willow had a similar experience?

I don't think it was a car because we live in such a little neighborhood with not much traffic. I guess that it could have been a dog. I wish that I knew. But she's the best thing that I have ever found in a tree!

Razor wire is legal where you live????? One more reason to keep your cat indoors. Prayers his leg can be fixed without a more serious procedure.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure Sam's going to be just fine. I wish the boy would learn to stay out of trouble. Less than a month ago he fell out of the tree and bust up his lip/nose. Now its his leg. And unsuitable girls. With razor wire fences. I'm going to have to have a quiet word with the boy about certain types of girls . . . I hate it when my babies have to stay over at the vet for the night. I can never sleep a wink when they're away from home. Who's going to wake me up at 5AM tomorrow??

It is, Skyron! She was in a desert willow tree.

Don't feel bad about not realizing Sam needed more help. Cats are extremely good at hiding their injuries and illnesses until they get really bad.
Head bonks to Sam. And tell him nice girls don't entice boy kitties.
