  1. ...a giant 8", very wiggly night-crawler worm!

And apparently worms don't taste very good to little August, because he didn't wanna eat it, but he was so cute and proud that I let him watch his giant worm writhe around in my hallway for about an hour.

    Thank goodness for wood floors!

  3. That is a very important occasion Starfish, the first live prey. It's onwards and upwards from here. Wonder what will be next.

  4. Congratulations!! Hopefully the next one will be of mamalian origin! That being said, it is still an occasion worth celebrating. Lots of scritches, headbonks, maybe some whipped cream and salmon are in order. And you will be expected to keep permanent record of this momentus occasion - my cats demand that I have their catches pickled in formaldehyde for them. I usually end up taking a picture and making a scrapbook page for them. I always tell them the lizard/mouse/bug-fairy came in the night and took the prey to heaven . . .

  7. What a good mama you are to show your boy that you are proud of his hunting skills even if it means have a worm squiggling around in the hallway! August and his hunting skills will help you with any critters that make their way inside as well!

    Rotley: "Coolies! You got one."

Ruggles: "Yeah. MOM! Couldja peel this?"

  10. Way to go August!!!!! Mine are frequently bringing in surprises. Some end up luckily being turned loose to scamper or fly away for another day! =O

  13. So my kittens are currently in the hallway playing with another giant worm. Augie's turned his sister Lucy on to the worm hunting game and this is about worm # 20. I've lost count.

I still find my kittens' pride in their worm-hunting prowress unspeakably cute, but am thinking if I ever find a worm in my bed it will be decidely less cute.

There was one incident last night when I was sitting on the floor studying (I'm going back to school for nursing), and Augie ran up to me and dropped his giant worm right in the middle of my anatomy text, just an inch or so from my hand. I may have squealed a little bit. Gotta love kittens.

  16. Your cat is doing that because he is playing with it. Sometimes cats give a rat, worm, ect. to you as a "gift"! I would love to see a cat do that! its so cute!
