  1. I'm home safe and computer seems to be working better. I'll be checking in periodically. If we get at least 12 inches I'm in tell next week :( Got stuck trying to park my car and had to be helped out of the middle of the street!

  2. Glad you're home safe now Lainey. I suppose there's not much more you can do then settle in and see what happens with the weather now. Keep warm and snug.

  3. I found a packet of sugar free hot chocolate mix in my cubby. I made a poor-man's mocha. Coffee, hot chocolate and just a small splash of 1/2 and 1/2! MMMMMM not quite as good as having tea with Gini, but I liked it!

  4. Thanks, MS, gonna do just that. Boiling water for some tea right now and gonna read a magazine, something I haven't done in ages! Be back later :)

  5. Lainey just curious, do you fill a thermos with boiling water in case your power goes off. What else can you do in forward preparation in case that happens? (she who doesn't so much as see a snow flake in winter)

  6. Still snowing!! Wayne will have to snow blow the driveway, the sidewalk and I will have to have him do the neighbors since I have to go over and take care of her kitties, so I can walk through with no problem. It's light snow, but coming down fast and hasn't quit. Oh fun:(
Well, had no plans to go anywhere today or Wednesday. After the girls go to bed, I am getting some tea, something yummy to nosh, and curl up under a blanket!
MS, I am so jealous of you right now and your weather! That and you live in NZ. :)

  7. CM, 'the grass always appears greener on the other side of the fence'.
Yeah, OK it is a bit greener here in NZ.
However there is that other saying, 'There's no place like home'.

  8. Managed to get my work done today with some other clerical help. I was glad to get caught up today. Tomorrow I'll be working on billing invoices and statements all day...{sigh}. Oh, well, that's the way it is this time of year.

  11. There's a report on the UK news tonight about how Spring is coming earlier each year. No bloody sign of it here yet!!!!

  12. It must be contagious! The weather man is actually threatening us with the "S" word for Thursday!

Oh well..I have to go out in it too and walk next door to feed the kits..glad I don't have to drive. Waiting for Wayne to get home..he should be home any time now..the roads suck.

  17. Hope Wayne gets home safe, CM (I'm sure he will). And you get to go see other kitties (not that your 2 aren't sufficiently adorable).

  18. The ones that Amy(my neighbor) has are so cute..Willow, Tucker and Samantha. Samantha is like 16 and she looks it too..but she loves her treats..she's a calico. Willow is gray and white and Tucker is a beautiful tabby!

  19. Awww, your neighbor is named AMY! How sweet! Be safe Jean, its rough here! To all else, except MS, stay safe. MS, I will be over to bask in the balminess

  20. I have a theory that terrorists are messing with our weather. Who is with me?

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  21. WWM, I agree! I am headed home before it gets full dark and I wont be able to see the black ice. Everything that melted in the daytime is now re-freezing. Have a good night everyone!

  22. I'm w/ya, WWM!!! They've predicted 2" of snow here for Thursday and (I can't believe I'm saying this!) we CAN'T have another snow day!!! We have to make up any time lost, and teachers already have to go on a Saturday to make up the other snow day we had. Staff development on a Saturday---I have a feeling that many teachers will be coming down w/an unexpected illness that Friday night! ;)

  23. Am with ya WWM all the way! Kinda sad story, FF just found an 82 year old man dead in a snow bank. He was shoveling his driveway. FF said he was obviously gone but the wife insisted on CPR, oxygen and send ing him to the ER.

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  24. Oh, MC - that is so sad! How awful for FF. I've had to do CPR before when it shouldn't have been done and it is just terrible.

FH, you aren't looking too good to me..... you look a mite feverish. I'll bet by Friday you're going to be really sick.

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  25. LOL WWM! Trust WWM, FH, she is a good nurse! :)

  26. Hi MS... I'm just getting back to this thread, been feeding the birds, reading, watching tv. No, I don't put any hot water in a thermos, though that is a great idea as I have quite a few of them. I didn't lose power during the storm over the weekend, however, it is expected there will be more outages this time around. We may not get as much snow but it's going to be very blustery over a sustained period of time and they fear that and the heavy snow is going to cause major problems. I'll just suck it up if that happens and hope for the best. Sometimes my side of the street goes out but my sister still has power. If that happens I'll walk up to her house and hunker down with them (and take my poor Jetta along, protesting the whole time!). If we all lose power, well, will just do the best I can and hope for the best. I have lots of blankets and hopefully lots of patience!

  27. Awww, Lainey and Jetta, stay safe!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  28. Thanks, MC! I hear north of us is gonna get it pretty bad, like we had. Today was my first day driving since I parked my car Thursday night and the roads are BAD. I already told my boss, don't expect me till next week. My street doesn't get plowed :(

Posted 2 years ago by Jetta and Boo Boo's Mom #

  29. that is a stinker!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  30. Hi folks! Bracing for the storm here. NYC schools are closed. The boss hasn't called it for our district yet, but I expect the call this evening. We're all set here - the woodburner is going strong, and we have plenty of cat food! A few years back I was making something in my slowcooker and the power went out. I took the insert out and put it on the woodburner, where it finished cooking (and the house smelled great!). We don't open the fridge unless absolutely necessary (we stick the beers in the snow outside the back door), and we have water stored for drinking and some stored for toilet-flushing. We have wells and septic systems here, so there's no water when the power goes out. Of course, there's water in the emergency pack for Leela!
