  1. hey all,

Aerie just got back from the vet a little while ago after being spayed and she ate and played which is a good sign. I just have a bit of a remark about her incision site that's bothering me a bit.

The site doesn't look like it was cleaned up very well or it was done in a hurry because there's still quite a bit of dried blood around it and her fur is stained with some sort of blue antiseptic that they used on her and she absolutely reeks of the smell of it and I also noticed that the office shaved a whole lot of her tummy fur off instead of just a small square which is what the same office did with Izzy, but Aerie's entire tummy is naked...

Just a few complaints that I felt the need to get out and does anyone of you have an idea of how to de-stain her fur and get the dried blood away from her incision site?

  2. Also, Aerie keeps licking the antiseptic that was left on her fur and I know this can't be healthy for her which is why I stop her every time I see her doing it, but she just goes right back to it when my back is turned...Any ideas?

  3. Well, I would think that her licking it shouldn't be a problem as they know cats are going to lick anything that's put on them, so I wouldn't think it would be harmful. But if you want to call the vet and ask, I'm sure they can answer that one. Not sure about getting the blood off the fur, except shave it--but she's already shaved pretty well, but I'm sure someone else on here can answer that one who has more experience than I. I've only had "boy" cats, and the one I have now was neutured before I got him.

  4. I used a warm, wet cloth to get the stains off and it took most of the antiseptic stain out of her fur too which is good.
