Kittehs are making soups and sammies for the NS tonight. Bobsled is on the bigscreen TV. The fire is roaring on the US/Britain side and A/C is going on the NZ side. There are plenty of kittens in baskets looking for love. The couch is full of pillows and blankets for you to snuggle up in and stay a while. The Tuxie is getting the fountains flowing, come on in! Hope your Caturday was relaxing!

Hi MC! I can't stay long because I am BEAT! Who knew puzzling was so exhausting? But 5 of my first 6 puzzles were perfect, completely filled in with no mistakes. Puzzle 5 is always the hardest and it was nasty. I'm currently 178th out of 647; this will probably change as people challenge scoring decisions, but I'm really happy with it.
Unfortunately my head is being evil and feels like it has a large metal stake pounded into the back of it. I can't take a loopy pill because Mr. K & I went out to our favorite Brooklyn pub after the day's puzzling & I had 2 glasses of wine. Such is life. We had a good time.

Hi Kilroy! Con-cats on the puzzles. That makes me head hurt thinking about doing puzzles. I did some pre spring spring cleaning today and I think I threw out my back! UGH. AV, aren't the bobs the best? I can't believe how HUGE those guys legs are, all MUSCLE! Wow! Go USA!

Hi MC, Kilroy & AV!
I could go for a gooey-gloppy-cheesy grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup, then kick back by the big screen!
Congratulations, Kilroy! Now only if you can kick that dang headache.

Hi Joan, how is little Miss Leela tonite? Is she still running around nekkid?

Yep, she's still nekkid. We're playing with her wiffle ball. She says HI to Betty and Wilma!

They send some headbonks back at her! They are both lounging on my lap right now.

Evening (or late night) Everyone! We actually have been watching the Olympics. The bobsledding is insane! I always wonder how the guy in the back feels - I would probably be barfing from the speed and not being able to see where we were going!
I am off to bed. We worked like demons today cleaning up the back yard. Cleaning, trimming, pruning, raking..... blah. We would have done the front yard but the dumpster was full of our clippings from the back. At least, that's the story that we're sticking to. In any event, I am knackered and am off to bed.
Sweet dreams, All!

Hi all just checking in. Was up at 4:45 for first pickup at 5:30am. Worked til midnight and now waiting for GG. His brother and friend's car got locked into the parking lot after the matches tonight and now he has to drive them home. So I'm waiting in his drive way and really need to go to sleep since I'm getting up at 6 to be there by 6:45.
Best part of today was driving my favorite tennis player ever, Patrick Rafter and his family. They are such nice people. Makes the insane hours and the stress worth it to deal with nice appreciative people.
-
Peeks in, tonight is my Monday and sure wish I could have stayed home. Its been raining off and on all day and would be a perfect night to sleep. Watched the Olympics from midnight last night until the wee hours of the morning and then again this morning with the downhill go fast skiing :)

Raining! How wonderful for you garden and the lemon tree. You be careful driving home later Deb.
We've had another very hot day but thankfully without the humidity. We got the lawns mowed and the yard tidied for another week of grass/weed growing.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

At least you got something done today, I did get some of the weeding done in-between the rain spurts. Have no grass though, just rocks and trees. The lemon tree did appreciate the rain, probably not the winds though it knocked off some of the lemons and I took some of the big ones off when I was outside. Wish that I liked lemons as much as I like limes, these are very big ones and very juicy.

Evening Deb, juice the lemons and freeze the juice in your freezer ice cube tray, then you can take out single cubes at a time and pop into a jug of cold water to jazz up the taste. I also finely grate the skins and add the zest to the ice cubes too. You never know when a recipe will call for lemon juice.
This afternoon I sat and filled 80 tiny zip bags with some wedding candy and some lovely small speckled chocolate eggs for the wedding favours. The eggs are really Easter eggs but I figured they can symbolise new beginnings for the kids too. I don't want to see another zip bag or candy for some while now.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Sorry 'puter got STUCK! Thought about that too, hey the Easter eggs are cool for the wedding favours. I love them but have been good and not bought any this year.

These are tiny wee eggs no bigger than your index finger nail and beautifully coloured and speckled. It almost seems a shame to eat them.
I'm waiting for HRH to come in, she was in earlier and managed to scam some smoked fish off me to wash down her beef chunks and milk. She seems to love sleeping under the large rhubarb leaves lately, they shade her really well but also leave the field open for seeing what's going on.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Evening, Deb and MS, sorry I'm late, I was finishing off a story to send in tomorrow and I can never leave well enough alone, can't stop fiddling with them...
Ooh, I LOVE lemons, wish I had a lovely lemon tree with such beautiful big fruit. Shame you can't pass some over the garden fence to me, Deb :)
MS, those little zip bags full of Easter eggs sound lovely! Yum, yum! One thing about it being chilly round our Easter, the chocolate won't melt...
I had some left-over smoked chicken from a salad, I offered it to both Jasper and Libs and they looked at me like I was trying to poison them...
-
HRH has the right idea, lie outside under the cool bush.
Evening Jane, I do wish I was close enough to pass the lemons over to both you and Jan, they are really lovely lemons.

We're hoping it won't be chilly, but we are further north than you. The wedding ceremony will be outside weather permitting centered on a lovely white lattice gazebo. Otherwise it will have to be inside the permanent marquee that is attached to the building where all the dancing etc occurs after the wedding breakfast.
I gave my lime tree some TLC this morning, it was going yellow. I've fed it fertiliser, and magnesium and iron in the last week or so and next is the Epsom salts. Already it has begun to green up. Next we should find a spot to plant a new lemon tree, our last on has finally succumbed to borer beetle, it's travelled with us to all the farms over the years, planted in a half barrel. We finally put it in the ground here.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Hope you enjoyed your weekend, Deb :) Any good scores at yard sales?
A while ago I picked up four lovely 1960s Mikasa cups and saucers in our local Sally Army shop for $6 the lot. They are in perfect condition and just like the ones my Mum brings out for coffee on special occasions at home (except, I think, a nicer colour!) I do love a bargain...
-
MS, it sounds like you are taking good care of that lime tree, it should reward you with lots of yummy fruit! Sad news about the lemon tree but once the borer's got a hold on it... I keep forgetting how much better your weather is than ours, our autumns and winters are very crisp. The ceremony sounds like it will be wonderful, we will put the TDK good weather machine to work for you on the day...
-
MS, may your lime tree become all lush and green again and may your new lemon tree give you tons of lemons.
jcat, not really, for the last 2 weeks nothing much for yard sales at all. I have been looking for a couple of area rugs and haven't seen any lately. The cups and saucers do sound lovely.

Morning, MS and JC and Deb.
Well, after various people appealed scoring decisions on yesterday's puzzles (with success, apparently), I've slipped from 178 to 230 out of 647. Still not bad, but I was pretty pleased with 178. It will probably change several more times before there's a final number.
Sorry for disappearing last night; our Internet connection died and I didn't feel like dealing with it.
MS, everything about Meegz's wedding sounds lovely.
Have a good Sunday/Monday, all.
-
Morning Kilroy, CONGRATULATIONS on such a wonderful result in the crossword comp. I would stick with your original placing of 178 when asked, I bet the others who appealed were just sore losers (it's the squeaky wheels that get the oil!)... Unless you were on steroids, of course, and flunked the drugs test, tee hee. ;-)
230 is also pretty magnificent, though, it must be around the top 35%!You're right, everything about Meegz's wedding does sound lovely!
-
Gotta love that TDK weather machine.
Your cups sound like a great find Jcat.
Jcat did you watch the interview on the Sunday programme tonight. The one with the animal abuser?
Hi Kilroy, waving madly.Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

OMG, MS, I didn't know it was on but no, I didn't watch it, I watched the Amazing Race instead. I can't bear people who hurt animals or children, did he try to justify himself? I don't think I could have watched, I don't want to hear anything from anyone like that.
And yes, I realise they probably have been badly abused themselves as kids and had terrible childhoods, but they still have a choice...
-
For the life of me I can't figure out why they even needed to interview the man. It served no purpose at all and I caught a glimpse of the video he had taken and was sickened by what I saw and raced out of the room. Went to the kitchen and had a cry over the salad while making it. It was a tad salty. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are complaints about that interview, yes they warned us there would be graphic and upsetting pictures but I still don't see what the interview achieved other than ratings. I'm glad you missed it Jcat.

I cry over the newspaper stories, MS, I'm glad I didn't see it either, I'm sorry you saw it. I hope they get flooded with complaints. It seems to me TVNZ is really scraping the bottom of the barrel these days.
I'm so glad he got jail though he should have got much, much longer than he did. And it infuriates me that MAF delegates the prosecution of animal cruelty cases to the SPCA, who have no money at all to take them, let alone government funding.
