  1. There is a legend that says siamese are crossed eyed because long ago, two siamese found a valuable artifact. While the other siamese went to tell the emperor what they found, the other had to guard it. The guarding one stared at it so much it became crossed eyed. But that is only a legend. I honestly don't know REALLY why siamese cats are crossed eyed sometimes.

  8. Even part-siamese are cross-eyed, as my little George proves. His granny was siamese, but his mom is a long-haired gray. His daddy (who was from another litter from Granny) is a beautiful brown and cream tiger. George ended up a seal-point siamese, like granny. His eyes are the bluest of blues, just like his granny. And crossed sometimes....LOL!

  9. Ironically, this is what just appeared in my email via Daily Cat Tip:

Siamese cats do not have the ability to form one image from information that comes into two eyes. This means that Siamese do not have vision that is quite as sharp as other cats, and it also means that they often have a cross-eyed appearance.

In fact, crossed eyes are typical for a Siamese cat: this problem arises early in a kitten's life when the brain is not able to compensate and the eye muscles get accustomed to that position, which creates the cross-eyed appearance.
