Today in 1455, the first known Gutenberg Bible was produced. Although not the first book to be made via printing press, it was the first book that became popularized and widely distributed, a major landmark in the spread of Christianity in Europe.
Also today in 1836, the Battle of the Alamo began. This is the most well known battle of the Texas Revolution and is where Texans made their last stand against Mexican forces led by General Santa Ana. All of the Texans were killed in the battle, including famous frontiersman Davy Crockett.
