Lillie going into heat?

  1. Hi.
Lillie has been yowling a lot recently, particularly at night when i am asleep. Although now she is doing it during the day. At first i thought it may be because she is looking for some attention, as she has done it occasionally, but now it is at least twice a night.
I received an article from catster the other day about 'Kneading', which explains why cats knead. The last section of the article states that cats can do an increased amount of kneading when they may be going into heat. I have noticed that Lillie has been kneading on my chest a lot at any given opportuinty. She has never really done this much before, she normally just lies there and doesn't knead. I have also read that when you scratch their back they put their head down and keep their 'bum' in the air...she does this too, but also sometimes if i go to scratch her back she moves away from me. I'm not worried about her, she is still eating and playing etc as usual.
Given that she is now 7 months, i am aware that it could be time, which is also why i am not too worried about her.
I am planning on getting her spayed but can't get her done until around the 8th of March.
Will she be alright for the next couple of weeks? Can anybody share their experiences with this sort of thing??
    Thank-you.

  2. Hi Laurie, yes it sounds like she's in heat. Be especially vigilant when you're going in and out the door and she will want VERY MUCH to go outside to look for a mate. She will probably be rather annoying with her one track mind but she should be fine until then as long as she doesn't get out.
I had to wait on one of mine too,she went into heat and I had two unneutered boy cats that I quickly got fixed.Luckily I had a spare room. She was spayed soon after but there was a LOT of yowling going on for a while.

  3. She is always at the door when she hears the key turning, i'm really careful when i am leaving the house or coming home as i know that she is desperate to get out. Its so unsettling hearing her yowl. :(

  4. I just posted one of the best stories in my repertoire on just this subject 3 days ago (http://www.dailykitten.com/chat/topic/25419). The short answer is, this may become the longest 10 days of your life, if Lillie gets as desperate as my Daphne did. If you can find a way to do it sooner, I would. I really would.
