We have no one here who sells Girl Scout cookies. :( I used to love getting those. Although, I have to admit, they are treat since I think they are a bit pricey.

CM I agree. I was a leader for 12 years. In the end I have to say $3.50 a box is a bit steep for 16-20 cookies. I hear that our area is one of the lowest prices and many are selling for $5 a box. I have a girl that I go to church with that is a Girl Scout. I bought from her. We love lemon so I orded 2 and now they are recalled. This isn't the first time they have had a problem. about 5 years ago there was a problem with the peanut butter sandwiches.
Shucks! I ordered the lemon ones too!!!

Sad part is, I had bought a box from the girls hanging out by the local food market and threw them away because they did taste off.

Any grown up Girl Scouts out there? Remember going door to door? I remember hoofing it all over town (running into fellow scouts along the way!). It was a HUGE deal if Dad came home from work and said a co-worker wanted to buy a box. Nowadays they have a separate form for a parent to bring to work. That's how I got some of mine this year; one of our Principal's daughters was selling them. I got several boxes from my friend's daughter too. Now I have to think of getting some money together to pay for them!

Joan, I had to go door to door, too. My folks absolutely refused to take boxes of cookies to work and sell them for me.
I bought two boxes of the lemon cookies, but they are called Lemonade. Is that the same cookie? We've already eaten one box and they were really good. They definitely aren't called Lemon Chalet Creme, so I wonder if they have two types of lemon cookies? The Lemonade ones that I bought are essentially shortbread cookies with a lemon icing on one side.

It's Girl Guide biscuit selling time here in NZ. Because I'm not in the movement anymore I don't know what types they are selling but it was plain, chocolate coated and mini biscuits. A few years ago the taste changed and the manufacturer swore they hadn't altered the recipe but the great taste had gone. I found several packets recently and they must be at least 5 years old and still in perfect condition and crisp. The best way to keep them for long periods was to pop them in the freezer.
Joan, I can remember going door to door as a Brownie(the youngest branch of the movement) with an older Guide and a parent. It was safe to way back then, no dogs or crazy people. Now all the selling is done at shopping centres or malls. Airy and Meegz would make sure Dad got orders from his work place.

Oh WWM, I think those are the cookies I ordered. Maybe I didn't get the "bad" cookies. I got the ones you described with the lemon icing on the bottom. Oh goodie! Here's a real FYI: My sister was on a box of girl scout cookies one year! My mom still has the box!

I have missed the GS cookies this year - no regular participants in the neighborhood or work realms. Haven't seen them outside the grocery this year either.... Oh, well, one less snack to control!

MS our youngest are now called Daiseys. Brownies used to be the lowest level. And I remember well selling them door to door. Now in parent training they heavily discourage that, you can only go to a door of someone you know. Have no fear NC they are just getting to the girls--they will be at the stores soon!

We now have Pippins for the 5-6 year olds, Meegz wasn't a Pippin but Airy was amongst the first to be one. They then carried on through the movement to Rangers but left when school work meant they didn't have time left for other things. Both girls attended an International Jamboree(gathering)in NZ and Meegz went to one in Australia. My Mum became the Guide leader of our local unit when I moved on to Rangers and KK was in Guides. She said she would do it for a year but finally retired 30 years later. She had 5 of her 6 grand-daughters through her unit. MiniKK was much younger and lives in another city.

I haven't seen a GS go door-to-door in at least a dozen years. I did when I was a GS. Now they are only at churches, grocery stores and malls. My favorites are the thin mints!

Lemonade and Lemon Chalet cookies are definitely two different types.

Then I guess I don't know what a Lemon Chalet cookie is. I have noticed depending on where I am at (traveling with work) there are different types of cookies.
