  2. Does you cat need a bath? Does he have dirt in his fur?

What I've always heard is that baths in general aren't good for cats. They have protective oils on their skin that shouldn't be washed off. Soap, especially, isn't good for them.

However Some cats, especially kittens, do occasionally need a little help cleaning up if they get into something messy. I don't think a little warm water to spot clean dirty fur really does any harm.

Also, is it possible your cat washes himself when you're not around? Cats can be finicky about their grooming rituals sometimes. Some cats have to feel very comfortable and safe in order to let their guard down to groom. Maybe your cat only likes to clean himself when he's alone?

  3. well he had yogurt on his head for the past week and also his leg, and i just wash it off with a cloth and warm water, if it's on him for a week i dont think he does clean himself lol as much..

  4. -Maybe he can't reach the yogurt? However if he doesn't groom at all, his fur will be really messy and matted, so if he's just slightly dirty, then maybe he just can't get it it.

-My parent's elderly cat (who's roughly 16), can't effectively groom himself anymore, so we have to brush him a lot, which he doesn't like either. We think he has some sort of kitty arthritis and can't twist properly. Poor little guy! Also, one of our cats needs help wiping her bum because she's to big.

but yeah, he probably is just doing it when you are asleep or not around.

  5. Most cats are neat freaks...does he have fleas? When Crockey had fleas he didn't groom himself as much as he does now that he is flea free!

  6. Is he a hand raised baby? Maybe he doesn't know how to clean himself. There are cat wipes (like baby wipes) on the market that you could use daily instead of actually putting him in the bathtub. But even just wiping him down once a day with a warm slightly wet washcloth would work.

  7. Maybe you could adopt a buddy for him--the new cat would groom him and he would get the idea.

  8. he doesnt have fleas, and he grooms himself good but not fully.. maybe he is too lazy to do it, cause he loves to play and gets distracted easily.. lol

  9. well, it KINDA is good that he doesn't lick himself because then he won't have hairballs. I would just go ahead and clean him yourself. or just do what cheetahboysmommy said and use kitty wipes.

  10. If you want to wash/ give him a bath, be carefull with useing warm water, since the cats skin are more sencetive than yours. So when you think its warm he might think its hot
