Mine was the set of crystal Escargot plates and forks I got from an older cousin for highschool graduation. Scotty was a Stew in the fifties when to my 10 year old eyes she was the epitome of glamor and sophistication. She settled into the leg from New York to Paris very happily for a farm girl from North Dakota. She may have become very "European" but it mystifies me to this day what she thought I would be doing with this gift at my so classy parties! Must admit, they do hold deviled eggs, pepperoni pizza bites, etc. very nicely!

Lol Paulajeanne, she knew that you would have the common sense to make use of them even if it was for different things :)

That is just too funny, PJ!
When Mr. WWM and I got married he was in Vietnam (we got married in Hawaii on R&R) and so gifts were mailed to me back in West Texas and many from people that I didn't know as they were friends of Mr. WWM's parents. One day I opened a package that contained a saki jug, two saki cups and two little soy sauce dishes. Being from West Texas I had never seen those things and had absolutely no idea what they were. So I wrote a note thanking these people for the lovely tea set, even though I thought that was certainly not a Texas sized tea set! I'm quite sure that they were all convinced that Mr. WWM had married a total hick.

My little brother always used to get me a five cent pack of sunflower seeds when we were growing up. We had fun spitting out the shells. LOL

PC, funny you should mention receiving a Theremin. A year ago I posted a link (now broken) under a post entitled "Move Over John Cage".
A quick search and I found a Utube source for the same.
Feast your ears on a mystro of the Theremin (feline of course)
