  3. Hi Lainey and Deb! Hope you feel better soon Lainey. I will have some pancakes topped with fresh fruit and a tall glass of chocolate milk.
Not that I was going to watch the Oscars, but at midnight Saturday, ABC pulled the plug from our cable provider - yet another dispute over what probably is a disgusting amount of money. Seems pretty gutsy to pull a network and I didn't think it could possibly last - why that station was on the air since I was a kid; one of the original 13! (um, but we didn't get channel 3, 6, 8, 10 & 12 but the dial went all the way up to 13!) Apparently, channel 7 was back on just before the Oscars. Went thru this back in January with the Discovery Channel and Food Network - that lasted a couple of weeks.

  4. Morning, all! Boo on the cable provider, Joan, but I read that it did come back on about 10 minutes into the Oscar telecast. I'm sure they got whatever it was they wanted.

Mr. K and I had a good, productive weekend, and yesterday we went to the flower show in Philadelphia, which is always lovely. This week I work for 2.5 days and then it's off to Phoenix for a conference.

Hope you feel better soon, Lainey.

  6. Good morning and happy Monday to everyone. Yeah I know, groan........, but remember one-seventh of your life is spent on Mondays.

  7. Hi all! It is up to 55. I think spring has come to cent. Florida! Yea! I hope you in the north have spring soon. We have a huge flock of robins and many flocks of song birds in our park here and I think they are heading north, but for now in a holding pattern. Sio, Elton John, we saw him in Rochester about 10 yrs ago. He gives a fantastic performance. Enjoy!

Lainey, I hope your back eases up on you. Not fun!

  14. Hi everyone. I just got out of math and am on a lunch break. Two more classes today. It is a STUNNING day out. So, so warm. Taco has had this fascination lately with licking my eyelashes on my right eye (and only my right eye! he won't even sniff my left one). It's really bizarre and feels terribly sandpapery.

  15. Good morning, all!
So sorry about your back, Lainey - hope it feels better soon. The small of my back was bothering me last night so I didn't sleep well :(

I did a great thing for myself on Saturday: two friends (who are also injured from tennis) and I went and joined LA Fitness. I have been wanting to start swimming again for quite some time and once they mentioned wanting to join a gym, I told them if they joined LA Fitness where I can swim, I'd join, too. Two of us went this morning and swam from eight to nine and it was great! It been a long time, and I don't remember getting winded from swimming when I swam aeveral times a week about 20 years ago. But I'm sure I just have to condition myself to it again. Sat in the hot tub for ten minutes afterwards which felt good on both the hip and lower back. I founf out I can't do the breast stroke with my bad hip, so I did mostly back stroke (my favorite anyway). My hip felt stiff but didn't hurt.
We're going back tomorrow morning for more!! :)

  16. Good morning, Everyone. Even though I'm alone at home, it's a sad day here. Mr. WWM's mom passed away around 6 am this morning. The kids weren't there yet but had told her that they would be back this morning. I think that maybe she didn't want them there when she left. Thank goodness Mr. WWM went up there last week, though.

GD, you are way too young to have hip problems. Ouch.

  17. *waves to everyone*
Good for you GD. glad you are doing something you enjoy again!
I am so sorry WWM, please pass my condolences to Mr. WWM. Glad he got to see her and say his goodbyes. No matter how old you are, losing a parent hurts.
Kykat, I am so jealous!! I want to come

  18. WWM, give Mr.WWM my condolences and a big hug from me.

Posted 1 year ago by Crazycatman - CA #

  19. I'm so sorry about Mr. WWM's mom, WWM. Please send my condolences on to him as well.

I have a tear I the labrum in my hip from tennis (all the twisting and torquing). I haven't played in 5 weeks and at least it isn't "sticking" like it was before eventhough it still feels stiff and a bit sore. I had thought of going back to tennis next week but after feeling how bad it felt during the breast stroke, I don't think I'm ready yet.
But I've always enjoyed swimming and it burns a lot of calories. And I can go with my friends which makes it fun :)

  20. Good job GD! Isn't swimming fun? Sorry about your hip, though.

WWM, I'm so sorry about your MIL. I agree that she probably wanted to go when she was alone. Hugs to Mr. WWM and to you.

George likes to lick Mr. K's hair, but he hasn't tried eyelids yet, as far as I know. I think that would freak me out.

    Hi to everyone else!

  21. Thank you, everyone. It means that we don't have any parents now. That makes me feel sad.....

Posted 1 year ago by WillowandWindismom #

  22. WWM, I'm so sorry about Mr. WWM losing his Mom. It is a good thing he was able to be with her last week. I understand feeling sad about not having any parents left. {{{{{Mr.WWM&WWM}}}}}

  23. It is, Kilroy! I grew up swimming and have always enjoyed it. It relaxes me as well. I'm so glad I joined!

That is sad, WWM! I so enjoyed spending time with my senior driversduring the tournament.
My co-coordinator and I set an 80 year-old up on a dating web site (his request) during the tournament but he had trouble figuring out the computer at the library, so we met him there yesterday and went over everything with him and he was so excited. He kept thanking us for helping out, but it was nice for us, too, spending the time with him, and making him happy.

  24. WWM I'm so sorry for mr. WWM's loss. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must be :(

Kilroy at first I thought it was a weird random thing 2 days ago, but then he did it again last night and then this morning.

    GD way to go!

Posted 1 year ago by gini #

  25. Hello! Have a break in work right now. Take care, Lainey. And my sympathy to Mr. WWM for his loss. GD, swimming is supposed to be good therapy for aches and pains. Go slowly at first and work up to what feels good for you. Siobhan, I just heard on the radio station I listen to that Elton John is coming to Des Moines. I didn't catch the date, though.
Chance loves to give me "kisses" on my lips, nose and cheeks. Sometimes, I have to stop him because his tongue is so rough and he really gets to pushing hard.

  29. Prayers and condolences to MR. WWM and the family on his mother's passing. I too believe that she probably wanted to go when no one was there. {{{hugs}}} And prayers for you WWM, you will need the strength to help Mr. WWM thru this.

  30. (((WwM and Andy)))

My boys never kiss me, but they both have become lap kitties this cold winter. I think it's the blanket they're interested in, not my lap, but I don't care :)
