Daily Kitten Chat Forum » Cats & Kittens

  1. This is my first time on this forum so ehm hellow, :)

Ok here comes a long storie (sorry)

Me and my boyfriend rented a house for 3months ago, we noticed that the man lived behinde us had a very skinny dog, and with skinny i mean something that could break in 2 at any moment, i could stand on 2nd floor look down to him and count his ribs. I asked the man why his dog was so skinny and he told me that he was taking care of it for a friend (Riight...) and the friend would pick it up in a month or so, a month after + some days the dog was gone, tho some of his stuff was still in the garden. Anyways, a few days later we saw 2 very small kittens (now we know that they where a few weeks old like 2-4weeks) well they where outside pretty much all the time (also in -10C) we kept an eye on them both since we didn't trust the man with animals, then 5 weeks after we saw the kittens we suddenly got visit from a big white/black old male cat, very sweet, was always looking inside and our own kitten (called Benz, got him from a shelter)one day i was alone home in the evening, and i hear a horrible cry coming from outside, i run to the window and see the old cat, but he does look wired, so I open the door and smells right away what that is wrong with him, he is coverd in poop, he dosn't wanna lick it off but he still do it (I assume he didn't like the smell either) I say fuck it, take him inside get cover in shit myself too, go upstairs and clean him, then i dry him, go downstairs, gives him some food and hope him and Benz isn't gonna kill eachother, they don't lucky enough, they just starts to pee everywhere so I decide to let the big male out, put food out everyday for him and if he needs shelter I'll open our gardenhouse and he can sleep there. 2 days ago, Benz go nuts infront of the window, I look outside and see the small cat from the house behinde us, he emptys a full boul (w/e its called) of food under 3min, after that i though ah well he is gonna be full now so i'll just fill it again for the other cat, but I was wrong, he starts to eat again like he never ated before, when i look at him he looks very skinny, I wanted to touch him and feel how skinny he was since the fure make them look bigger and i was shocked, he was more skinny that he look liked when i took him up it was nothing but bones, his powls are bigger than his legs and his head is the biggest thing on the whole body, me and my boyfriend are animal lovers, we can't stand that people leave there pets to themself, i put the cat down on the ground goes inside and talks with my boyfriend about what to do, we go on the internet to see what can happend if we put 2 male cats together, what that would be best and so on. while he was checking that i was looking at the kitten, and it made me sick, his butt was big and red, kinda reminded me of a monkey butt, he was shaking, drity and just crying. We decided to take him to a vet ASAP, she told us he is 3months old, got flues and are very underweight, just under the 2kg, she gave us some pills we could give him for his stomech called Finidiar, when we came him we made a room rdy for him (for his own and my other cat sake) i spend alot of time there, cleaning feeding him (4times a days on small potions) i wake up at the night 3-4 time to check on him that he is still alive and so, but then yesterday when i was cleaning his room (pooing everywhere, even on the wall, don't know how it even got there lol, I don't mind by the way) i saw small blood spots, so he is bleeing a bit out of his butt, What to do ? Shall we go to the vet again? Is it because he eats real food for once? Or got bad stomech? I really want Lucky as we call him to make it, he is a strong kitten (stronger than the other that might be dead since we didn't see it for ages) but he have been though alot, tho he is a better place now (nice warm, safe place with food everyday and always someone around him) Hope you guys can help us

  2. Hi Diana, and welcome to TDK Chat - and thank you for what you're trying to do for poor Lucky. He's certainly not had a great start in life.

I'm no expert, but rectal bleeding is never a good thing, especially with his history, so I would get a vet to look at him straight away. I hope it's nothing to worr about, but better safe than sorry. Please let us know how you both get on. And report your neighbour for animal cruelty - no animal sounds safe with him.

Oh, and please don't think me judgemental (I would have used the exact same phraseology to mself over the washing the poop issue!), but Kittenmaster (who owns this site) asks that we keep it suitable for kids, so just be careful on the swear words. We all know what you would have been thinking anyway!!!

  3. VET! Bleeding is abnormal and dangerous. That could be why he is pooping everywhere and ID have suspison he's never been house trained.

I would also call the SPCA on the guy that is neglecting his animals.

  4. Please take the kitten back to the vet right away. And please call the SPCA or the police on the guy who is not taking care of his animals. If you are an animal lover, you will not think twice about doing the latter.

  5. As MCW mentions, please mind your language - it's inappropriate here. It might be a good idea to read our posting guidelines.

  6. I don't have any advice other than take him to the vet asap. But Thank you for rescuing the kitten. I hope it's just worms or something that can be treated quickly. Good luck.

  7. Hi Diana - welcome to TDK, the fluffiest site on the internet! As suggested, it looks like your best bet is to get little Lucky to the vet - hopefully you have by now. I sure hope Lucky feels better soon. Stop back and let us know how the little guy is doing!

  8. Hellow, yea language slipped, sorry :(. I was at the vet, she told it was because he has diarrhea but the pills we got should help him, the last two days he made an amazing recovering, his backpart is normal color and smaller, he dosnt make poop everywhere and there is no sign of blood or worms. Now its just his weight that has to be worked on, I will link some pic's soon (as soon as I know how to).

About the man, don't think we have any SPCA's here and the police want evidence, as we don't have, but if he will get a new pet we are going to contact the police, and ask them to check on the animal once a while, I am a big animal lover, and I would love to see the man get punish for what he did to the animals, we are still keeping an eye on the house in hoping to find the other kitten, but yet without any luck, either have we seen the man for days.

  9. Yay! Did you take in the adult cat too?

    Posted 1 year ago by ladysky61 #

  10. Adult and adult, he is 10months :p no not yet, we wanna be 100% sure he can't get any kind of sickness from Lucky so we are gonna wait until sauterday, then we will go to the doc once more with Lucky and hear if he is 100% fresh, also for his own sake. But tonight he is gonna sleep in the bedroom with me so he isn't alone. I'll keep an update on him on the site :)

  11. I'm so pleased to hear it's nothing serious with Lucky. Looking forward to seeing some pictures! Your easiest way to da is to create a Catster page for him - Catster is a bit like Facebook for cats (yes, really!). If you click on my avatar (which is Button), you'll see my family's Catster page. They're really easy to create (well, I managed it!), and then ou can paste the URL into your profile here, and people will be able to click on your avatar to see him.

  12. Bless you for caring and taking the wee one in. I see you are from Belgium, are there any laws against animal cruelty? This man needs to be turned in to the authorities. How about calling a local radio or tv station to see if they can help? Good luck with the the new one.

  22. Hi Diana, welcome to TDK. I was in Belgium (Leuven) at the weekend for a conference. It's the first time I've really had a chance to visit your country. Leuven is a beautiful little town -I'll have to go back sometime.

  26. Hi, Diana, I agree with everyone else, you rock and little Lucky really is lucky to have found you. Welcome to TDK!

Belgium certainly does have rigorous animal protection laws as it is part of the European Union. The SPCA and the Blue Cross should be able to help you. Here is some information for you from this website: http://brussels.angloinfo.com/information/29/animals.asp. Hope it helps.
(If you are a native English speaker, an English speaking vet -- this website tells you how to find them -- should also be able to advise you.)

    Owning a Pet
Animals are protected by law and owners can be prosecuted for various reasons including mistreatment. Owners must take steps to ensure that their animals do not present a nuisance or cause harm to others. Anyone who abandons an animal is also likely to face punishment.

The full regulations of the legislation are given on the Ministry of Health website and also on the website of Blue Cross (la Croix Bleue).

    National Animal Organisations
Animal rescue centres or refuges in Belgium must be regulated and adhere to strict guidelines to ensure the welfare of the animals in their care. Many still rely on donations and volunteer help to function effectively.

The Blue Cross (la Croix Bleue) operates a number of animal rescue centres in Belgium – two of which are in the Brussels area. They also post photographs and details of animals in their care which are available for adoption. Other centres that do similar work include Help Animals which has centres in Anderlecht and Brussels.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (Société Royale Protectrice, SRPA des Animaux Veymeede, KMDB) is the biggest animal protection organisation in Belgium. It has refuges throughout Belgium mainly for cats and dogs, however certain centres take in horses and mistreated animals from zoos or circuses.
