  1. ok so my cat hates outside, but he loves to be with me beside me,
he is neutered and I was wondering if I have his leash and collar on him in the summer or when it's warmer... would he like to be out there? or no? when I bring him out he doesn't run in but he'll end up running in after a few minutes.. does that mean he is ok with going outside?

I never had a cat that was scared of outside so I dont know lol

  2. Hi Dexter!
My boys, who are neutered as well, were scared of the outside, too, at first, but now they love it. I take them out in the back yard on leashes. I don't walk them (we've tried!), but I get them a long leash and let them run around in the back yard and they love it. It took a few tries, but now they beg to go out!

  3. velvet was one smart cookie. i would put her out on a long lead in the backyard. she would wind the lead around and around the tomato plants and then pull until she got the lead off. then she went adventuring on her own. again, one smart cookie...

  4. That's why I always stay outside with my boys, just in case. They've never gotten off their leash, but just to be on the safe side.

  5. I had a neutered male that was afraid of the outside. He accidently got out a few times and would run back in. (He got out by running to meet me and going right past when the door opened - silly!) I have only a small patio so he was happy to sit on the other side of the screen when I was outside. My sister used to take her tabby out on a leash - he loved it and would even ride in the cart in Petsmart on his leash.

  6. All of our cats have been indoor only. They love to sit in the open window, and occasionally try to escape through an open door, but they can't wait to get back inside. I don't think they miss the outdoors if they don't go out. They hate a closed bathroom door, but the front door isn't of any interest to them.

  7. Hm interesting..I have been wondering if I could put Sophie on a leash too.. and have always worried she'd run off if she tugged hard enough! She loves watching birds, squrriesl and bugs outside so maybe I'll take her to the park!

  9. Do you have any foxes, dogs or other predators around? Maybe you cat is smelling another animal and he's afraid to go out for his own safety.
