OMG if I was still in Cali I'd scoop him up in a NY minute. Poor Oscar, I hope somebody takes him. *crying*

Oscar reminds me of my Rusty! Rusty is an orangie love bug I picked up at the shelter. Rusty had a family his whole life and then one day he was just dumped at the shelter to fend for himself. He was 8 yrs old when I brought him home. While he is very loving, it took time for him to trust. It was funny as I went to the shelter to find a cat for my Mother. I went with Michael and Will. We visited with all the furry babies and we all decieded on the same one. Rusty! (How often with that ever happen!) Long story short, mother decieded Rusty was a wrong fit for her. She decieded she didn't want Rusty and told me to take him back to the shelter. While at the shelter, I knew Rusty was under a death sentance as they were putting more than 20 down that night and Rusty was one of them. No way was I taking Rusty back! I brought him home with me, now he is a well adjusted love bug that loves being my pillow when I sleep at night. While my mother ticked me off over this situation, I will always cherish my Rusty!

I sure hope he finds a home. It is so sad that he would just be dumped, poor guy.

It made me so sad to read this story.....made me think of my Rockymon who was abandoned until Sharon and Rebekah saved him. I'm so glad I have him now, but feel sad for poor Oscar - nobody wants the older kitties. Anybody in LA who can send me this little boy?

I have to tell you all that not all cats are 'dumped' at shelters by their owners because they want to do it. Where I'm at,the only shelter in our town is a 'kill' shelter. I'm about to lose my place of residence to 'fend' for my own. Where in the world would anyone suggest I take the 7 inside & the 4 outside ferals I'm still currently caring for(they never found furever homes)?
They range from age 6-7 yrs. to 18 yrs. I hate to think that when I end up out on the streets,I will get a slapping for having to do what is out of my control.
Sorry for the unfluffy tone. I guess I'm feeling a bit guilty for what will eventually happen to my feral furbabies. I really meant no nastiness to any of you.
{{{Feral}}} You make a good point, which Mr. K also made when I told him about Oscar; as much as we hate seeing animals "abandoned", we don't know the circumstances and really shouldn't judge (of course I did just that in my earlier posting, and am now feeling properly chastened).
On another note - YAY!!! for Oscar being adopted! And hi TL! Great to "see" you, especially since you come bearing great news :)
I'm glad somebody adopted Oscar!

Thanks for the update, TL!
HM, you were on my mind...!
Feral, we know that cats are given away or abandoned sometimes due to circumstances beyond the owners control. We weren't judging, just lamenting the way things turn out sometimes. On the other hand, some people treat their pets as disposable, so you never know. I guess in this case, Oscar seemed so scared, it tugged at heartstrings more.
TIGERLILLY!!!!! Please come home!

Oh...at first I was so heartbroken to see Oscar's video...WOW!! Thank you Tigerlilly for renewing my hope in people and their love for animals. I agree with Susie that there are times and circumstances that make it necessary to leave animals at a shelter. At least Oscar wasn't just dumped on the street to fend for himself. Best of luck to Oscar!!! =)
I agree Karen, at least they put him in a shelter--so many are just abandoned to the streets. Glad he was adopted, he has such sad eyes.
