  1. Hello, just looking for some advice.

Backstory: I'm staying at my parents house at the moment and there is white cat that is asleep on the my dad's shed rood, he says it is homeless and belonged to a family that moved and must of left it behind! Mean people. Anyway, he says he has tried to feed it a few times but it runs off, granted though my father is loud and probably scared it off. He also says that it was skinny before christmas as has put weight on so thinks someone is feeding it.

I went to see it and it doesn't look skinny but it is very dirty, especially it's ears and also has some scars on it from fights maybe. I managed to feed it some cooked chicken breast which it woofed down. Also after a few attempts I managed to let it have me stroke it and it feels very greasy/dirty but it looked like it was heaven! After while it just lay down and went back to sleep.

Anyway the point is I was wondering if it would be a good thing to start feeding whenever I see it around or leave some food out. Can cats have dog? I ask because my parents have a lot of tins of adult dog food left from before their dog passed (they currently have pup). Or is better if I buy a box of cat for it? Or am I best not feeding it if someone else is? Do you think I should call anyone about it? I mean a rescue place, etc.

Sorry for going on with myself, thanks!

  2. a cat can not eat dog food. a cat needs something like 5 times more protein than a dog, along with different vitamins and minerals.

  3. Definately get it some cat food, it really is formulated differently from dog food. If it is dirty it probably isn't being cared for by anyone and is just scavaging whatever it can. It would be wonderful if you could feed it and gain it's trust enough to give it a bath and take it to a vet, it could need care. Hopefully your family will adopt it but if you can't you should contact a no-kill rescue that can take care of it properly.

  4. The poor baby sounds like she needs a new furever home. I hope you can provide her with it, or at least help her find one.

  5. Maybe you can find someone with a dog to trade the food for a cat food purchase?

A pampered pet abandoned to fate is ill equipped to survive. Kitty needs a home if it is at all possible to adopt into the family. The puppy would grow up with a pal for life if your family is willing to bring this stray into the shelter of a good home.
