   Have to bookmark this one for next years poetry unit. Although I am told teaching poetry isn't as important anymore--I think that is just plain wrong. We actually reach many with poetry!

   My high school teacher informed us that we would hate poetry but she had to teach it as part of the curriculum. I wondered what was wrong with me for a long time because I loved poetry and still do. She was a good teacher even with poetry I always wondered if she didn't like it or just had to many students who didn't like it.

   I worry every year that my love of poetry will not be passed on--I have never been disappointed. Even the kids that said they hated poetry had a change of heart. It may not be their favorite part of literature--but they didn't hate it!
