Corn Beef and Cabbage Night Shift

(60 posts)
  1. Well in continuation of the celebration of St. Patrick's Day we have corn beef and cabbage special. Of course there are a variety of foods--you name it and I am sure the Kitteh Chefs can prepare it! The fountains are flowing with green beer! I prefer the champagne fountain myself!

Pull up a chair and share your day!

  2. I would love some delish corn beef please! I too, will have some green champagne. I will take whatever veggies you have besides cabbage. Cabbage and my intestines do not agree but I am sure you have something else there to share. I am pretty tired tonite, busy day today. 13 hours of patients and I am whooped! How was your day SM? How are you feeling?

  3. ((SM))((CM))
My day was okay..my evening is sucking so far...lol. Just got the kitchen cleaned up, Abbie has cried 4 times...went up there each time. Don't know what's wrong. I gave her some motrin at 6pm for the lump on her head, since she hit her head against the window and there is a nice lump. About 30 minutes ago I gave her benedryl for her itching...I pray she is now down for the night.
Maddie is constipated, so she is trying to poop before bed and we are waiting till she's done..it's been like this..She's on miralax to help her.
This would be a normal night but we have to get up early tomorrow since Maddie and I have a dentist appt at 8. SO we all have to get up early and out the door by 7:40.

Sorry to vent...just tired and really want to wind down, but it's not looking promising yet.

  4. Awww, CM, that's rough. What you just described is EXACTLY the reason I think I am toooooooo old to have kids. Just don't think I could handle it. Hug to you all!

  5. There are days I know I am too old...lol. It's worth it , but OMG...I am just running on the instinct of what I have to do...just do it and don't think about it..lol
I am calling the Dr. tomorrow for Maddie, and buying some prunes, hoping she will eat them and that they will help.
Abbie..well, she rarely sleeps through an entire night and if I am up, well I deal with it but once I am asleep, it's hard. I don't know what was her issue tonight, she felt warm but no temp..I know she's getting more teeth and they have broken through but that could be it..who knows...I hate to give my child meds but if it helps and helps her sleep...I feel like a bad mom.

  6. CM, you are an AWESOME mom and you need to remember that! If your baby is sick, she needs the meds. Of course you don't want to give kids meds when they don't need it then I understand. But if she is warm, we don't need our little Abbers getting a fever!

  7. CM they grow up fast and soon you will be wondering where the time flew! Each and every year the girls will be less dependent and you will have more time for you. You need to make sure that you take time now though too--good for the girls to learn you are important too. I was a stay at home Mom for 3 years and hubby spent most of that time in the Land of Sand. Even knowing I'd have to do it alone, I wouldn't change a thing. It is rough and being sleep deprived is worse, but it is worth it!

MC you could handle a child just fine. They are more work and energy than anyone could imagine--that is if you are a parent that is there. I see so many kids that by the time they get to me at age 12 they can cook, clean, and raise children.

  8. {{{{CM}}}} You are so not a bad mom. You take such good care of those girls.

I'm just popping in for a sec; I'm beat and we're heading for bed soon. We had company tonight, our friends from New Jersey and 2 women from Belfast that they're friends with. It was fun but loud, and the Irish women were afraid of George so Mr. K kept chasing him out of the room, grrrrr. George seems to have gotten over it, though.

  9. Hi Kilroy!

  10. SM, true..they do grow so fast. I know I will miss some of these times but I just want Abbie to sleep through the night..not have to take benedryl..I am so afraid of her getting hooked on it or damaging her. She does wake up itching but it seems like every night lately I give it to her and I hate myself for it.
It is rough, but it really is worth it.

  13. Hi Cheri! Hope you are well. Sending you hugs!!

I am off to bed..finally got Maddie in bed and all is quiet with Abbers, so I am taking advantage of it. Night all. Hugs and prayers to all that need them.

  14. She will make it through the night. The benedryl will help and it will make her itch be less. Never hate yourself for you are one of those gems that is actually a Mom--you are there for her and doing what you need to do to help her. You should never hate yourself--you are one of the best Moms ever. You will see that sooner than you think too. Your girls are two of the luckiest children around. To have a Mom who is there to care for them and teach them. They will be able to say they learned to be a great parent because of you. You are ensuring the future for generations yet to come!

  17. Night CM! Hi Cheri, how are you and Spice?

    Posted 1 year ago by mollycat71 #

  18. SM, you are making me blush. Thank you for your kind words. All I know is I wanted to be there for my kids. My mom couldn't be and I was alone to raise myself. I wanted it so different for my girls. I am glad to be with them, they are my life.
    Hugs to you!

  19. I was the same way CM--let me tell you on Monday my groomer--a friend asked Mini SM if she was close to me. Without missing a beat she said absolutely--never thought I would hear those words. It meant the world. You'll see it will happen to you and you will know you did it right!

Posted 1 year ago by SoxsMom #

  20. Oh SM, that must have just melted your heart. How sweet and impressive Mini SM said that. CM, your girls will do the same thing when they are a little bit older! :)

    Posted 1 year ago by mollycat71 #

  21. That is awesome SM. Those are the times when you know it's worth it.
Hard work is an understatement. But now that I am a mom, I would never give it up. My girls just rock. well 90%of the time...lol
Okay, i am really gone now. Love to all!!

  24. Hi BT! How is the new job going?

Posted 1 year ago by SoxsMom #

  25. New job is part of the problem, SM. I'm in way over my head (one woman office--I have to be bookkeeper, paralegal, receptionist, and occasionally, confessor for the boss.) I'm lonelier than I've ever been in my life, I'm scraping to get by, and. . . *Cries*

  26. spice and i are doing just fine. sometimes i wonder if is she is bored without having velvet around, but i dont know how to find a companion for a 13 year old grouch (around other kitties). and everything must wait until im back to work.

Posted 1 year ago by CSBM #

  27. I take it that she doesn't have enough income to hire another person in the office--maybe even part-time? That would make something a bit more managable. What about a night with friends BT? You have to have time for you. You can always come here and find a friend!

Posted 1 year ago by SoxsMom #

  28. All of my friends are virtual these days. :) I don't know anyone at all here, other than boss, and she's not someone to socialize with. No, she doesn't have income enough to hire someone else. She gripes about paying me! (And I know full well I'm underpaid.)

Posted 1 year ago by Bellantara #

  29. (((Bella)))... I can totally relate to your "fears" of the new job!... please know that you would not have been hired, had you not the qualifications they needed!... you can do this!!!! believe it....embrace it... and go for it!... I believe in you... we all here (TDK) believe in you... and know you can do this!......I too took a new job, and am facing similar issues!.... I stand... I face my "obsticales/fears/inhabiatians/... and I look within - I CAN DO THIS!..... my point is.. believe in yourself! you can do this!
