My sweet ferret today finally hit the wall, and I noticed that he is in pain ....So i took him out to the yard in the sunshine .....we layed in the grass ......tears rolling down my face I told him that this is what it would be like in heaven .......please send everyone on the other side to meet him at the rainbow bridge ......my husband took him to the vet ......I could not see him take his last breath .........Im just sick from the grief .....Oh Sweet Jasper I will miss your kisses ......
I went to the pet store this morning ......and bought Jackson ....a albino baby ferret .....Jenna loves him .......He is sweet and calm and gives kisses ......she is crazy about him .....and he is adjusting well ....looks like i made that decision right on time .......My heart aches for jasper ..there is no replacement ......I just did not want jenna to be sad ...

JF, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Jasper. I have sent word to Katie, Snowman, Mini, Cheeper, and Megan to look out for him and help him adjust. My kids at the bridge are very friendly and they will look out for Jasper and assist him in getting into LOTS of trouble! (I can see the Wolf rolling his eyes already LOL)

RIP Jasper, I'm so sorry you had to leave your human friends. Look for Shaddo and Jiggs (the Wolf knows how to find them). My boys won't hurt you, they will play with you and show you around and you can show them fun ferret games.

The little ferret sits upright and pats the Wolf on his nose.
No response.
Jasper considers another pat.
Suddenly the golden eyes open, and Jasper gazes into their depths.
"I knew you were in there!" exclaims Jasper, leaning over the great creature's snout.
"Jasper, you have absolutely no fear," smiles the Wolf at his small friend. Resting his head on his paws, he blinks and sighs. Jasper has come to the Meadow this morning, and everyone knows it.
In the short time he has been here, Jasper has fallen into the Brook, gotten hauled out of the Brook by Hillies, and washed by Mama Kitty.
He has gone for a ride on Bruno, a large Old English sheep dog who happens to be very fond of ferrets.
Just a few minutes ago he was scolded by the Siamese Patrol for not showing them proper respect. However, Shaddo and Jiggs were able to make him completely happy by telling Jasper not to pay too much attention to them.
"Jasper, you've missed your afternoon nap," calls Mama Cat, walking up the knoll toward the two friends.
"And it shows," murmurs the Wolf.
"Did you disturb the Wolf?" asks Jasper's new mama. "You shouldn't do that."
"Yes, you really shouldn't, dear friend," says the Wolf.
Jasper backs away quickly, eyes wide. The Wolf smiles warmly and pulls Jasper close to him. Giggling with relief, the little ferret curls up next to the Wolf's muzzle.
"I will be a good boy, like my mama used to say I should be." The little fellow blinks back tears, and he buries his head in the Wolf's fur. "I miss her! Oh, Wolf, I miss her!"
"And you will see her again," and the Wolf cradles the little scrap of fur. Jasper's tears come fast, and the Wolf holds him close to his heart, whispering comfort to him.
"You will see her, Jasper," assures the Mama Cat, who kisses him softly. "But later."
The Mama Cat begins to wash Jasper again. The Wolf nods to the sweet cat. Jasper's cries become softer, and he sighs raggedly. His bright eyes blink slowly and then close as he rests next to the Wolf.
Lulled by his new mama's purrs, Jasper begins to doze off. Mama Cat curls around him, and soon they are both asleep in the peace and quiet of the afternoon.
Another new friend has come to the Meadow.

JF, I am so sorry for your loss of Jasper. He sounded like an amazing little guy. My Bomber, Skimble, Willie, Mandy, Boo and Casper will be there waiting to play.
How wonderful that you have gotten Jackson and a friend for Jenna. It will ease her grief and I think yours, too.

Velvet sees Jasper and does not understand. she has never seen a ferret before, so she decides he is a long skinny rat. a creature to be chased, hunted down. that is, until Wolf has told her Jasper is a new, welcome addition to the meadow, a new friend for Velvet. she is skeptical at first, and then decides Wolf is right, for Wolf is never wrong. Velvet and Jasper are introduced to each other by Mama Cat, and the friendship begins from there...
