   GD, instead of complaing to the lanlord, complain to the city code officer. things will then get fixed at warp speed. and you can also mention the lack of heat. make an entire list. the landlord can't get back at you for complaining to the code officer...

   if the building is deemed to be unihabitable, the landlord's going to lose his rents until he fixes things and has a re-inspection. he certaintly won't want to bite into his livehood...lack of income hits people in the gut in interesting ways....

   I don't know about that Cheri. We had a similiar situation in Albuquerque the week of Christmas. The building had no heat, no hot water, and leaks everywhere. It was turned into the city. The landlord stated he did not have funds to fix it all so everyone was evicted on Christmas Eve. Most of these people are still homeless. Yes a report may make the landlord make the appropriate fixes--if they can.

   Thanks, Cheir. Landlord left me a message today that he'll install a new fan for me, so at least that's something. I really wish I could get out of that place, though. *sigh*
