   A month ago we shifted The Daily Kitten to a shiny new server. We shifted all the files over, and the database that runs the actual Daily Kitten part of the site, but neglected to update the settings related to the chat forum. This was a huge oversight on our part.

   For the last month, we've been running both servers (the new and the old) side by side while we made sure everything was working properly, then finally switched off the old server yesterday. Unfortunately, the oversight mentioned above means that all posts made between installing the new server and decommissioning the old were deleted.

   We are currently trying extremely hard to retrieve this data, but it won't a be trivial task to merge the two databases, even if we can recover it. If there is a silver lining, we're pretty sure that any new user accounts created in the last month should be OK.

   It should go without saying that we sincerely apologise for this mistake: we appreciate how much time you spend here, and how much work goes into your contributions, and we realise we've let you down. Please let us know by using the 'report' function if you spot anything else odd.

   Yes!

   I have just one small problem -- well, not quite that small. I posted a Bridge tribute to Gizmo, and before I could copy it to my book, it disappeared. If anyone has a copy of Gizmo's tribute, please let me know. That is the one that is missing, and I would love to have it!

   Ohhh, yes, PLEASE, I was going to print off the thread of posts when I lost Gizmo and I wanted OW's and Emma's story!!!!!! :( I am so sad, I hope it can be retrieved, I should have printed it out yesterday morning :( I wanted to show my Granddaughter and kids and hubs the posts :(((

    Katt, what were the names of the other kits of yours who are at the Bridge with Gizmo? If the thread about Gizmo does not emerge, I will see if I can recreate it. And this time I will mention some more of our darlings, notably Buc, Winston, and Milo.

    And KM, you have a splendid site which is the best on the internet. Losing a month's deathless prose ;) is a small price to pay for this wonderful and sustaining place.

    Good Morning!!

    Nice to know it wasn't my computer, I had to re register but that isn't a problem at all!

    I'm going kayaking this weekend and leaving Poof to be cared for by my roommate and my daughter. Hopefully between the two he won't miss me much. This is our first time away overnight since I brought him home.

    Thanks for the explaination KM. The prob was found and fixed and we have our beloved chat back. Thank you so very much for all that you do for us.

    As Poof (Teresa) said she had to re register and I (Teresa) had to re register too. I wonder if its because we have the same name. I was wondering why I couldn't log in. Anyhoo, Big Welcome Teresa & Poof from Teresa & Mittens. I changed my log in to Mittens before I knew Teresa changed hers to Poof. So to add to the confusion I'll be Mittens.

    Oh no, not at all! We have glitches every now and then here. Usually it'll be that we can't get on for a few hours, we've never had a whole month disappear before!
