  1. Welcome home, Marmite, and don't you ever do that to your mommy again.

  2. *Emma peers over her glasses at the small Marmite*

Young lady, don't ever do that again. *Emma smiles, coos to Marmite (who knows she is absolutely irresistable), and gives her some salmon treats*

  3. I am too strict--MARMITE remember where you bread is buttered young lady--is a wild world out there!

Glad she is home where she belongs!

  5. She might if she finds out how much attention and how many salmon treats she'll get.

  6. Small, I agree with Starfish. Unless you have nasty predators in your area or you live on a busy road then it should be fine for Marmite to continue to play outside. He may well have learned from his wee escapade. To be on the safe side, whenever he is out in the yard keep an eye on him and if he looks like slinking off towards the woods growl and say 'NO' and maybe even get between him and the woods and stamp your feet so he knows not to go in that direction. He will soon catch on. I've trained all my cats that way and they soon learn where they are not allowed to venture. We don't have any predators here in NZ so all the Kiwi TDKers cats are indoor/outdoor cars.

  7. So glad she has been found, and thank goodness for kind neighbours. I'm sure it's ok to let her out again, she won't wander so far next time.

  9. Perhaps build an outdoor enclosure? Or get really high fences.

  10. Or have an electric wire run above your fence/walls. You can run a single wire just to deter her from getting out again. Here in SA our electric fences have at least 6-9 wires running on them for security purposes, but since we've had the fence none of cats have ever dared to go out of our yard. Except for Tigger who got out recently, but he actually ran out the gate when it was open for a car coming in.

  11. Wonderful news Marmite. And Moonshadow's suggestion is good. Keep an eye on her when she is outside and 'steer' her away from the areas you don't want her heading towards. And keep her in at night if you feel she would be safer then. I noticed you are in the UK so your predator risk may not be as great as in parts of the USA. We're fortunate that our Kiwi cats can be indoor/outdoor cats.

  12. Yippee Skippie Marmite has returned!! I was looking thru the posts today to see if you had updated. I'm sure you cried tears of joy when they knocked on the door!! Thank goodness for all the parties responsible for making the reunion possible.

  13. Oh thank God, I missed this thread earlier! You were both on my mind all weekend. So glad all worked out. When Michael's Shadow was missing, we were out walking looking for him and a sweet lady at the end of the street spotted him while we were just chatting with her. The next day I surprised her with a simple bouquet of flowers to show our gratitude for her eagle eye!
