  1. In honor of the anniversary of my brain surgery we are going to have a "brain" cafe today! LOL. Its storming something awful outside, sure hope we don't have to build an ark! The kitties are catering today, Panera and Bob Evans. Between the two you can certainly find something to eat! The beautiful Ragdolls are running the coffee shop part of the cafe. I will take myself a choc chip bagel, cream cheese and a tall glass of milk. I need to head out because the weather is bad and I don't want to have my computer struck by lightning. Will try to check in later, until then, have a great dry, safe, day! MEOW! <3

  2. Morning MC, hope that the weather calms down some for you.

  3. Morning MC, gosh, does Chicago usually get such bad weather? I know it's always snowing on ER but I didn't think you'd be having such bad storms in spring. Have a great day!

  4. Good morning MC, you have had a lot of nasty weather today. Not for me, one tornado was enough for me, and it was a baby by your standards.

  5. Good monring efurryone! Happy Brain Day, MC! Today is also the 30th anniversary of a tornado ripping through downtown Kalamazoo. The city is in a valley, and it had been believed that tornadoes would just fly -over- a valley, but this one came roaring down one side of the valley and tore right through the heart of Kalamazoo. 5 people died, 80 were injured.

I was working at the time, and the tornado touched down less than an quarter of a mile away in a farmer's field. I was in the basement level of a tri-level store and wasn't aware what had happened until I noticed the phone lines were dead.

I had the next day off from work and then the scope of the damage was very apparent. Crap was everywhere. A piece of someone's house siding was in my driveway. Big old trees were uprooted in the city park at the heart of downtown. All the windows were blown out of one large building, and the back side of a store collapsed into an alley, crushing a woman. Scary stuff.

  6. Morning all!.... Sio, everytime I see your Avatar, I crack up..... what was Hermes' trying to get in that bag? LOL

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  7. Hi AV! Hermes just likes to see how much of his fat self he can cram into bags and boxes. The smaller the better :-) There was nothing in that bag, but he sure seemed to think there was! (lol)

  8. Glad to see all y'all this morning! I only have time for coffee and a toasted sesame bagel with butter, since this is springtime and I'm busier than the proverbial one-legged man at this time of year. It's rainy today, which means it's a good day for weeding or pruning. (When it's not rainy, it's a good time for planting or mowing.) I'd be able to get all the gardening done, if it wasn't for this pesky thing called a full-time job getting in my way!

Hope you have a great day! Gotta run! (Straps on bandana, broad-brimmed hat, boots, knee pads, and gloves before tromping out the door.)

  9. awwww...... that's so cute!..... sounds like Abby, if there is a door that is just cracked, she will use her paws to wedge it open and then squeeze through just to see what's on the other side.... even if it's from where she just came and cried to be let in/out! LOL .... silly kitties

  10. Wow, did I just see Ann?
Hi Ann, have a great day and you'll get to the garden and be all the more relaxed for it.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  11. *Waves furiously at Ann.*

Hiya, Ann, gosh, I need someone like you in my garden too... ;-) You show that vegetation who's boss!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  12. Yeah... well, I'm procrastinating a bit on getting outside (in case you couldn't tell). I'd rather stay inside and look at kittens and enjoy friends than go outside and weed. But dang it, if I don't do it, it doesn't get done! Rats!

On the plus side... the bellis, roses, lily of the valley, columbine, variegated Solomon's seal, and purple robe locust are all in bloom. The bleeding heart has already bloomed for the year. The Franklin tree is leafing out again - yay! And the dill, peas, black radishes, and romaine are all coming up. Even the purple potatoes are finally peeking up (was worried they'd rot out). And it turns out the golden locust is very golden when it leafs out it the springtime. Glenn and I are also happy to see the butterfly bushes coming back again. I have to remember to take a camera outside with me sometime.

  13. Ohh, yes, please, we need piccies! It sounds divine! And we are heading into winter here so we could do with some pictures of a beautiful spring!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  14. Definitely pictures, for the start of Spring you sound like you have already put a lot of work into your garden Ann. I had to google the Franklin tree as I've never heard of it.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  15. Wow, Ann, sounds like you have a wonderful garden. Although it is a job to take care of, I love to see the beautiful plants and trees showing their spring colors.
We have been getting lots of rain this week, so it's still pretty gloomy here. A cup of Earl Grey tea for me this morning and push a little Ragdoll my way for snuggles.

  22. Hi, am on a BORING conference call so I thought I would see who stopped by. It is STILL storming here, I noticed water was pooling in my yard when I left. I imagine I will find a wet basement when I return home tonight. Oh fun!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  23. Morning and Evening to ALL!
Ugh, on the possibility of a wet basement, MC, been there too many times!!! It's another raw, rainy day....hope tomorrow is better as I am going with Granddaughter on her school field trip to a local dairy farm :) Hope you all have a nice day/evening!!!

  24. Hi all, I'm here having made it safely to w**k. We're having a beautiful sunny day, and Mr. K has put our poor half-dead flowers out on the balcony in hopes that some sun will do them good. George seems happy with the weather too; when I left he was curled up in a sunbeam, which has been a rare thing the past several days.

Boo hiss on storms, MC; hope your basement isn't too awful when you get home.

Hi to everyone else! I noticed that my new avatar finally showed up this morning, I changed it several days ago & figured I messed something up, but there's George the crossword-solving cat :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  25. kILROY, love the new avatar :)

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  26. Ohhhh, cute avatar, Kilroy!! George is a man after my own heart, with the crossword fetish! I can't sit down without having a puzzle on my lap to solve!!! "Ah, 6 across is F e l i n e, George" ;-)

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  27. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him curled up with his paw on the pen like that :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  28. Teeheehee, he is so cute!! He sure is a pretty orangie! I am still on the hunt for mine :)

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  29. What a PUZZLING photo (ar ar ar)

    He's adorable!

Posted 2 years ago by Siobhan #

  30. You will find your orangie, KH, I just know it. He's out there somewhere waiting for you.

Ha ha, Sio. George is actually no help with crosswords, but that picture would make you think he was.
