  1. I am a new foster parent for 4 3 week old kittens now. Mommy kitty decided that she didn't want to take care of them anymore so she jumped out of a screened window and we haven't seen her since. I know they should eat every 3 to 4 hours. How often should they be using the potty? The mom ran away in the middle of the night last night and they have peed but not pooped. We started feeding them kitten milk this morning around 11 and they are lapping well. So I have just left it down for them and 3 are doing great 1 is not eating or playing as much as the 3. He meows and walks around. I did manage to get him to eat more the last time but he still isn't as playful as the others. None of them have pooped though. Please Help!!!

  2. That's strange. Maybe the mother is trying to hunt for food? I think she'll come back.

Also, I am pretty sure by 3 weeks the kittens should eliminate on their own.

  3. Ok. Momma(Pharrah) has come back. I had to lock her in a cage with the kittens because she acts like she doesnt want to feed them. Any ideas?

  4. They should poop every 2-3 days, and at 3 weeks they should be able to use a litterbox and not need to be stimulated as much. I also think maybe mom is trying to go out and find food for them. Try offering her wet cat food, or pieces of raw chicken, and see if she'll try to get the kittens to eat it. Try confining her to a room, i think in a cage she'd become stressed too easily.

  6. Hi Anna. I have a cat that recently had kittens as well. Although it's been just 2 days, I realize that she's noticeably thinner. I think it's normal as she is nursing but I've started feeding her more frequently (and she gets hungry more often too) which is what my vet friend told me to do instead of increasing the amounts fed to her. Supplementing her with kitty milk is also a good idea.

  7. Is it ok to give her tuna eggs and raw chicken? I am fostering through a shelter and I am sure she was just brought in right before I went there to pick her up. So I have fostered before but I want to get as much info as possible.

  8. hmm...I've personally never fed anything raw so I can't advice you on this but a lot of people here do (FF50 is one person I know) so I suppose it's ok? Why not steam it a little?
