  12. GD...I'm so sorry you had a bad night. I want to thank you for the Bobsky card. You should have heard me. I squealed with delight when I saw it. The kitties all looked at me & cocked there heads sideways. God Bless You for everything. I don't know how you did the postage stamp thing,but,that was the ultimate in cool. {{{HUGS}}}

Hi Teresa...I hope things are good for you on the homefront. :)

  13. I didn't show the stamp to my 'kids' cuz they would've been jealous (and expected their own stamp!)

  14. I think I'll just have a couple of pieces of Texas Toast with hashbrowns. I need plenty of circulation space for the coffee I desperately need to get going. I overslept. It's 8 a.m. & I haven't even got the kitty dishes washed yet from last night's feeding. Bad me. If the cats catch me in here on the puter, they're gonna hang me. So, I better take my Toast & Taters to go please & go on my way. If I don't get back soon, all of you have a wonderful Sunday. God Bless You All. <^..^>

  15. Thanks for asking, Teresa. First of all, I'm still feeling yucky with this cold, and I think I overdid it yesterday.

Anyway, I got hardly any sleep. You see, I rent the private back part of a house, and in the house itself, my landlord rents out a couple of rooms to people. I rarely ever see these people and can't hear them or anything, The rent is dirt-cheap, so for now it works for me. Anyway, last night I woke up because there was a knock on my door. (I later realized it was 12:45 at night). Anyway, it woke me up, but not enough to get out of bed. Just as I was going back to sleep, there was another knock. I thought maybe it was BF, who had knocked that same morning when he same by with some medicine. I didn't really know what time it was, but knew he'd been at a basketball game, so I figured maybe it really wasn't that late, and went to open the door.
Out there was some hispanic guy in probably his early twenties. He was wearing only a pair of jeans, and a bottle of beer in his hand. When I opened the door he tried to start talking, but he seemed drunk I and don't speak Spanish. He got closer and closer, until I told him he had woken me up and then closed the door. For the next hour and a half, he kept knocking on my door! Some times every couple of minutes, sometimes every ten or so. Now, of course I started wondering if there was something wrong, but decided there wasn't and tried to go back to sleep. I was hearing all kinds of scratching noises on the door in between the knocks, but I was afraid to go out ther and confront the guy. Well, I finally had enough, and found the biggest kitchen knife I own - I dont even know what kind of knife it was, but it's pretty pathetic looking and probably wouldn't have done me any good. So, with cell phone in one hand and knife in the other I went to the door and shouted out through it what was going on - he just kept knocking! I then did open the door, and he was right there in my face! He looked like he was trying to get in, kept inching closer and closer and I was freaking out. I told him to leave me the hell alone and that if he didn't, I would call the cops. Well, the guy may not have spoken many words of English, but he knew that word! I slammed the door in his face and the knocking finally ended. At this point it was 2:30 in the morning and I was too hyped up to go to sleep for at least another hour.
Then I had to get up at seven to go to my friend's house and walk her dog. I barely dared go out my door!

Anyway, I did not get a lot of sleep, so the cold is acting up again and I'm tired. Sorry for the long story, I was just really creeped out!

  16. You're very welcome, Susie! I'm glad to have made you happy! Hugs from me and the Bobster!

  17. Oh no, they all saw my long, ranting story and ran off!!!!!!
    Come back, people!!!

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  18. Gosh GD,some guys can't take a hint and that sounds dangerous. Please don't open the door when he knocks and just call the police if he keeps knocking. That worries me.

Posted 4 years ago by Buttercup #

  19. Yes, Marsha, didn't sound right to me, too. Unfortunately I don't have a peephole. But I'm not opening that door now, no matter what time it is, unless I call out first and find out it's a friend of mine.
I did call the landlord this morning and told him to please have a talk with this guy and ask him to stay away from me. Let's hope it works.

  20. Laying there scared in my bed in the middle of the night, I was wondering - can you purchase maze/pepperspray/a taser or something somewhere or is that not legal? If you can, where do you get it?

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  21. Try to get bed early tonight, GD, and have a good sleep!

Posted 4 years ago by miu #

  22. Miu, I'm thinking of staying overnight at the dog-sitting house. It would be safe there, but unfortunately the dog usually keeps me up half the night.

Posted 4 years ago by GreatDane #

  23. GD,I don't know if there have been any recent law changes but last I checked you can buy pepper spray and the one I had even had(or so they say) a florescent type paint so that you could point out the guy you sprayed to the police easily.

  24. Poor GD! Take Bobster with you and let him wear the doggie out.

Posted 4 years ago by miu #

  25. Then I REALLY wouldn't get any sleep!
Bobsky sends hugs to Auntie Miu and wants her to remind Santa about that cat tree he put on his list.....

  26. Confidentially: Santa promised it!!! :) :) :)

    BIG {hugs} to Lil' Bobsky.

  27. GD - NEVER open your door to someone that you don't know, especially in the middle of the night. Just ask through the door who it is. And, yes - it is legal to use pepper spray if you feel threatened. Tazer's depend on the state that you live in but I don't think I would recommend that! I think that you can buy pepper spray at sporting goods stores. Like in the hunting section. If not there, they could tell you where you can buy it.

In light of your bad night, and your not feeling well, I think that I should whip you up some huevos rancheros with the extra spicy Hatch, New Mexico chilis. If that doesn't knock out a bug, nothing will! Followed with a shot of licorice vodka, of course. We want to keep this international!

  28. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR, GD, unless you know who is on the other side. Even armed with a knife and a cell phone you could be overpowered and disarmed.

Do you have a good lock on your door, GD? I mean like a deadbolt that has a long metal piece that goes solidly into the door jam when locked? Your landlord may be willing to install one now that he is on notice that there is a scary guy who was trying to get in. You could also ask him either to install a peep hole or let you do it.

Is this guy a tenant in the building?? If he is, have the landlord talk to him and warn him he will be evicted if he ever does something like that again!
I don't know what is legal to have for self protection where you live. The easiest thing to do would be to contact the police department and ask them. Stay safe, my dear!

Posted 4 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  29. GD-you said that you asked the landlord to talk to this person-is he one of the roomers in the main house? Sounds like the guy was just drunk,a little too much Christmas cheer. Still, I agree with the others--don't open your door to anybody unless you know who they are. He might have been the one with the knife, not you!! I'd have called the police immediately, but that's just me. You younger folks have more gumption than I do.

And I think you can get mace or other deterrents legally, not sure. Do you know anybody in the legal/police profession you could ask?

I hope you have a restful day with the Bobster.

  30. Well, from your description, GD, I'd say that there was an excellent chance that your midnight visitor was "Muy boracho"!! (translates as totally plastered in English!)
