I take it that Sammy is getting worse? Has he been able to have a bowel movement at all? I am glad you are taking him to the vet--that was the only way that lisa was able to keep CJ alive. I understand how expensive vets are, but as lisa told you if you do not have help from the vet the outcome isn't very good.

Remember that Sammy has known what it is to be safe, warm and loved because of all the care you've given him. Many feral cats never get to know that joy. You can feel very good about the love you've given Sammy and I know he loves you in return, no matter how long or short his time with you is. {{{hugs}}}

Jessalyn, I wish that I could reach from Texas to Oklahoma and give you the biggest hug ever and just sit there with you and baby Sammy. Jess, you have given Sammy the most precious gift that anyone could ever have given him - you have loved him and cared for him. And you must never forget that. We all feel empty inside when we lose someone that we love. But we always have a little warm spot in our heart whenever we think of that person or fur baby. Sammy will never leave you because you have shared love. I will pray that he will be better but maybe it isn't meant to be. And if Sammy must leave, I will pray for you to remember that you gave him great love. Sammy loves you and he knows that you love him enough to do whatever is the best thing for him.
We all love you and Sammy and we are here for you.

Jess, sometimes vet's will make arrangements for paying for their services, like paying some every month. If you have a good vet, and your mom explains the situation, maybe they can make some arrangement that will work for everyone. It never hurts to ask.

Jess, sweetheart, I'm going to tell you something that you're not going to want to hear, but I have to say it to you. I really think the best thing to do for your precious Sammy would be to take him to the vet and let the vet give him a shot that will put him out of his pain forever. That shouldn't cost much. He's acting OK, but cats are very good at hiding their pain and suffering. If he is red and oozing, he is hurting, and there is nothing that can be done to fix his problem. Even trying to manage the problem, which might not work anyway, would take a lot of help from a vet, and your family can't afford that.
I know you love Sammy so much, but love means doing the best things for the ones we love even when it hurts us terribly. Please talk to your parents about letting the vet send Sammy to the Rainbow Bridge peacefully. All of us here at TDK know how it feels to do that, and we will be here to listen when you need to talk about it.

thankyou... i made this all for him.... http://www.wix.com/summer_cat/manxsyndromecom

The website is a nice tribute. Some of the information should be checked for accuracy. Many cats have 4 or more kittens and none have Manx Syndrome. It is a genetic defect that can occur. Remember you are now the voice of this illness--be powerful and be as accurate as possible. You are off to a wonderful start. Make sure that you get all the information as accurate as possible and perhaps you will be able to educate others Jess.

well i found this, Manx litters tend toward the small side in numbers, both because of Manx Syndrome and because of the short back of the queen, which leaves less room for large numbers of kittens. A typical Manx litter will be 3 or 4 kittens--more than that could crowd the kits and a female who has a history of large litters needs careful observation during pregnancy to see that all goes well. A sensible precaution with expectant Manx queens is to have the vet x-ray or ultra-sound her a couple of weeks before the due date, to determine the number of kits to expect, i think this might be the way it happens
