  1. Hi, I just signed up for this site. It's good to see other people as worried about kitty poop as I am! I have taken in four kittens that were abandoned. One under my house and the other three in the yard. I wouldn't have found them if I hadn't heard my little booger under the house crying.
Anyways, they are roughly 2 1/2 weeks old and I cannot get them to poop at all. I've had them since late Saturday night. I took them to the vet on Wed. and he told me not to worry yet, but that can't be normal! I have tried using a washcloth, cotton balls, cotton pads, toilet paper, all of those items wet and dry. Running their bums under water and using a lubricant to wiggle my pinky finger up there (That was certainly not fun for either participant!) I saw that there is a video for the triangle method, but I can't watch videos right now, so can anyone explain it to me?
I am so worried about my little boo-bears, I am completely head over heels in love with them! They all eat great, are gaining weight, and pee like champs. They are active and so loving, but just no poopy.

  2. The mother cat would clean them. This cleaning, which can be done with a damp cottenball, will stimulate the kitten to go to the bathroom. I am truly suprised you have a vet this did not show you how to do this. You might want to call the vet back and ask what he recommends.

  3. I have used a cotton ball. I have done circles, short strokes, constant rubbing (not to where it would hurt them) I really and truly have tried everything.

  4. I have never been unable to get a kitty to poop, but i have no idea why it isnt working for you. Sounds like you are doing exactly what i usually do. The only other thing i could suggest is putting some mineral oil in their formula, or giving them a ml of liquid parrafin. Then there is also the possibility of an enema. I've never had to do one, but I've heard they work well. Good luck!

  5. Thank you. I am going to try again tonight and if they don't poop then it is back to the vet for them. I think I'm going to try a different vet though, this guy seemed to not care at all. I asked if he'd show me the right way to make them poop and he said no!

I have two cats already, but I got them when they were a few weeks older. (We have a bad issue with feral cats in St. Pete) So I have never had to do any of this!

  6. oh yes, one more thing - give them water after each feed. A few mls might also help to get more fluid to their bowels.

  7. I think a different vet may be the thing for you. Even if the vet won't show you normally a vet assistant or tech will--very unfriendly vet. Wishing you much better luck. Also kittens may not poop everyday--but this sounds longer than they should go without going. You should get more advice this evening as well.

  8. I got two to poopy!! Yay! I finally got to watch the video for the triangle method and it worked! Now to just get the other two to go potty time! I was so proud and happy that I took pictures to document their first poopies for me. Does that make me completely gross? lol, oh well, it was a proud moment for Mama. I also noticed when I let them come out of their kennel they come to where ever I am to crawl all over me, sigh, I am totally relieved and happy now!

  13. Thank you! My husband says I've become obsessed with poop, lol, but I don't care they are my furbabies. It's hard to believe I've had them less then a week and I am already wrapped around their little paws.
