  1. My kitten Sam, for some reason has been biting the end of his tail a lot, so much that is bald now. The very tip has hair on it, but maybe 1/10th of an inch down he has chewed it that way. It's about maybe 1/4th of an inch bitten off.

I have looked all over to figure out a solution and cannot find one. It does not seem to be stress, he is very active, eating great, playful, just nothing is really pointing to it. It's also not fleas. What else could it possibly be? It's getting to the point where I feel he may need to see a vet about it. However, I don't want to dish out the money just this second without hearing some second opinions.

Any advice on what may be causing this would be great.

  2. Sys, I would definitely take him to the vet.... it could be something as simple as ringworm, but you will need prescription meds to combat that!... do it before it spreads..... I'm certaintly not an expert, but many more on here will have good advise!

.... Welcome to TDK and good luck to you and your baby!

  3. Oh, I hope it's not that. From what I know, it does not seem to be ringworm, but anything is possible I would suppose!

Thank you for the reply! :)

  4. Could be allergies causing him to bite his tail, a phone call to the vet could possibly help too.
