Signs that a newborn kitten is doing fine...

  1. What are the signs that a newborn kitten is doing fine with the mom and doesnt need any outside help?

  2. the kitten is able to suckle and is gaining weight. also the mom lets the kitten snuggle for warmth, and the mom is cleaning the kitten and is helping the kitten go poop.

  3. I think what I would do is after a few hours with the mother, try giving the kitten a bottle of formula. If she doesn't want it, she is hopefully suckling successfully from the mother; if she drinks it, she is obviously not getting enough from mum. I'd also do the dehydration test to check that baby is getting enough fluids from mum and keep a close eye on her. I'd do this every day until you felt confident that things were now going well. Check also to see that baby is warm enough and that mum and sibling are not moving away from her or leaving her on her own.

  4. I just tried giving her a bottle and she moved her head and started crying so she didnt want it. I also tried to stimulate her to go pee or poop and she didnt do either. So, I think she is fine with mom.
