  1. Now that we have this wonderful place where we can introduce ourselves, I thought I would formally introduce myself and tell everybody a little bit about me.

My real name is Mary but online I go by the name owlwatcher_974. I got the name owlwatcher because I used to watch the owls fly up at my mom's house. I added the 974 because there is at least one other person on the net who uses the name owlwatcher. Several people have asked me what the 974 in my name stands for. Sometimes people think it's the year I was born but it's actually the numbers from the license plate of a car I used to own. The car was a 1974 Pontiac and, somehow, the numbers on the plate wound up being 974.

I am 40 years old and I live in Southern California, with my roommate, two kitty brats (Shiva and Mamma Kitty) and one puppy brat (a 6 yr. old German Sheppard mix named Trinity).

I just recently went back to the local community college to get a degree in Computer Information Technology and I am hoping to transfer to the state college later on.

My interests are: computers, owls, music, writing, church, bowling, video games and pinball just to name a few. Probably a hundred other things I could add to that list but I can't think of them right now.

  2. Hi Owlwatcher, it is nice to get to know more about the TDK posters. I like owls too, and am known for doing needlework pix of them and gifting them to my relatives! I think I need to ease off them, though. Lately, I get this "oh no, not another owl picture!" paulajeanne (MT)

    Success to your studies!

  4. Mary, greetings and salutations this Monday morning. Love watching owls myself, used to have one that sat outside my bedroom window in the Mesquite Tree. He also flew ahead of my car in the headlights when I came home after swing or late shift, looking for bugs I am sure. But I used to think he was doing it just to guide me home safely.

  5. Hi Mary, my boss has an owl has his screen saver on his computer. I keep threatening to change it to kittens!

  6. Hi there!
We have lots of owls in our village. I easpecially like the Little Owls. I saw one the other day with a rabbit almost as big as itself. It kept trying to take off holding the rabbit in its claws, but the rabbit was too heavy and eventually it had to abandon its dinner.

  7. Hey, I used to be an owlwatcher, but our city has grown so much it is difficult to find any now. We had a screech owl (the little guys are formally called Eastern Screech, I think) that lived in one of our bird houses when I was a kid - we never figured out if "he" had a family or not - they are pretty secretive. They are small, but have "horns" like the big guys - most here in Florida are brownish colored. My cousin collects owl statues, but I'm not sure how she got started - will have to ask. Then we also had a cousin who collected toad statues. Now, they had to be toads and not frogs - I guess that made the collecting much more difficult which evidently pleased her. Well, since I've been sort of "chatty" I'll stop now.
