  1. Thought it was time to start a new thread for a new month. I'm doing terrible. Seems I get 3-4 good days and then binge (today is the binge day) Back up on the horse starting right now! Did have a good walk today, though.

    How is everyone else?

  2. Thanks for starting this new month Lainey.
Plans to continue with the healthy & fit game plan. This weekend was a pause in the routine but today is the new start in a new month for me too! Healthy eating, walking more, 3 gym visits per week and only 1 nite per week for a glass of bubbly or wine! Paw up for hi-five to all kits on this new month's quest! WE CAN DO IT!!!

  3. I rode 34 miles this morning with Mr. WWM. We're doing a ride this weekend in San Angelo of 62 miles. We went through San Angelo yesterday and it was 106 degrees!!!!!!

  4. Hi All! I'm on vacation at the Jersey shore (staying with my brother and his family.) I have been here since Thursday, and despite pizza, "beverages," funnel cake, french fries, etc I weighed myself this morning and have not gained a pound. I've been getting up every morning and running the boardwalk to work it off! Today I ran the entire boardwalk (1 mile) and back (which makes 2 miles) TWICE which makes 4 miles! Ok, I did slow down and jog or walk briskly as needed, but ran quite a bit of it! The cool ocean air and low humidity make exercise so much easier here than climbing a mountain in Georgia.
Exercise is the answer, apparently! Don't give up, we can do it!

  6. I am proud of myself (and inspired by MC, GD and WWM)! This morning I did 10 minutes of strength intervals on the 'bike' and tonight I just got off after a really good 45-minute workout (all at baby level 01 but what the heck). I burned off 250 calories in all, yay! That should get rid of that Danish pastry this morning at the French cafe (I hope!)

  7. I too, fell "off the wagon". Ate birthday cake and it all went downhill from there. I picked myself up, dusted myself off and get back on the horse. Now, if I can just make it thru those training sessions!

  8. I'm back on the horse, too, MC. My body is screaming at me for falling off. Headache, lethargy, joint pain.... ack! It's not worth it, it's just not worth it. I gotta remember how I'm feeling today the next time I decide to do things my way and eat what I want instead of what my body needs! back to w**k... :(

  9. Holy cow!!!! Where did all of these horses come from????

It was a gym day for me today. The temptation is to just ride my bike but I know that's bad. Women need to do weight bearing exercises to protect our bones so I did my cardio at the gym and then lifted weights.

    GREAT job, Jcat!

  10. I was bad Sunday, eating out with GG for breakfast and dinner and having a frosty at Wendy's (which wasn't worth the calories, by the way!). And yesterday Auntie Ellen took me to our sushi place to thank me for pet-sitting. I felt SO sluggish on the bike today (thought maybe all that food would have given me energy, but no). I did end up doing 21 miles in about an hour and 10 minutes. I didn't think I'd make it to 10 and really pushed myself. It felt horrible, but you feel so good afterwards, especially after getting through it when you really don't feel all that great.

Yay, Lainey and MC for getting back on those horses!!

  11. trainer tonight. need to find motivation for cardio on my non-trainer days. just can't seem to find it. I may no longer have a racquet ball partner... I haven't played in a month. :(

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  12. I just told my tennis pro I'm not playing this year, 2p. On one hand, the hip's not 100% and I can't get excited about it when I can't play like I used to on the other hand, I'm sure I'll miss it once the season starts.
My motivation for cardio is how awesome I feel after doing it. Totally exhausted, in a great way. The hard part is getting up early and going to the gym, and maybe the first 15 minutes, but after that, it's great.

  13. I can't fit it in before work. I already get up at 5. After work schedule 2-3 days a week is already filled. My issue? It's just one more thing I do alone... I'm tired of being, and doing things, alone. Wahhhh... ok, enough self-pity. Need to just go.

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  14. What is that saying...Just do it...I don't mind doing the gym thing solo for there is usually someone around to say hi to w/o having to visit & take up too much precious time! (Except for tonite for it is MC visits M'waukee nite!)

Posted 1 year ago by jeankit #

  15. JK - I find that 99% of the people using any of the cardio machines are 'plugged in' to their own music and don't offer a 'hello' back. Just my experience.

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  16. 2P, does your gym have aerobic classes or Zumba? Everyone does those together and there's lots more interaction. I know what you mean about everyone being plugged in, as I am ubber guilty of that. But in a class it would be so different and you might meet some great people!

Posted 1 year ago by WillowandWindismom #

  17. WWM - been trying to find one that fits my schedule. Not an easy task. I just can't bring myself to do that type of activity at 8:30 p.m. I have not given up hope. Still working on the 'interior' me as well. Seems that needs more work than the 'exterior' at the moment. (apologies for being a 'downer' here)

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  18. Yeah, I know what you mean - there's no way that I could exercise that late at night. Do you have a Y? Ours here has a quite varied time schedule for classes to try and accommodate more people.

The interior? Hmmm, you obviously don't always see the great person that we do.

  19. If only sweating in a car with no A/C and 102 degree temps counted as exercise! I'd be model thin! Today has been a good day so far. Fruit instead of sweets, decent amount of protein in my lunch and lots of hydration. I just need to get going with the E word and I might actually get back to losing.

    Posted 1 year ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  20. WWM - there is a Y here, but it's at least double the price of the gym I currently belong to. I think I just need to push myself to go to a weekend class, or a class at a less-than-optimal time. Weekend classes - that I would want - are right smack-dab in the middle of the day.

(a bit off subject - my problem is that I live alone; my cubicle at work is very isolated from all the others [sucky planning on someone's part], and unless I get up and initiate a conversation at someone else's cube, I have no conversation during the day; and then I go home to Chloe and Mili - whom I love dearly, but don't converse much. Yes, I have tried reaching out to 'friends' who always seem to be busy, or only want to do what they want to do, or have other reasons/excuses we don't get together. My sons are busy with their own lives and don't care to 'hang' with mom. I'm a social person, and this way of living is depressing me. My sad-sack tale for the day. I know I am less expressive than I used to be, and it shows here... I often feel like a 'thread-kill.' I will keep trying...)

  21. ((((2p)))) I always like seeing you posting here.
It sounds like you have a lot going on, but how about finding a new activity to meet new people? How about volunteering at the local Humane Society? Or doing Big Brother, Big Sister or something like that? Or how about taking a class? I have friends who take classes at night - belly dancing, cooking, Italian, you name it. That would be a good way to meet people.

I have to admit, when I work out I do like to totally zone out and not talk to too many people. I speak to my gym friend when we take breathing breaks in the pool, but when we do the bikes and elipticals and treadmills, we don't usually do the same thing which helps me. I find when I do speak to people, I go slower without noticing, which defeats the purpose. Auntie Ellen would like for me to meet her to bike or go on the treadmills, but I'd really rather not. And when I go with my gym friend, we go for coffee afterwards, and I find myself forced to get off the bike when she's ready to go, when most of the time I would have liked to continue.

  22. Awwwww poor 2P... HUGS for you sweetie. :) There is a group around here that gathers on sundays that do things tgether and is especially geered for lonely people or people that want to make a difference in someone elses life. Sorry, I cannot remember all the details but it sounded wonderful! Too bad there isn't something like that around your area? How about a book club or going on trips with a group, etc? There must be something around there to have fun doing. I wish you luck. Good thing we have TDK huh? I love it and would NOT ever have to live without it..... :)
Yes, it is true, kids don't want to be bothered with their parents most of the time..... How sad after we devoted ALL of our time to them, all their lives, just to be thrown on the wayside.... How lovely...... :(
I'm glad you shared with us! Oh, you are NOT a "thread kill" don't even think that!! We are always glad to hear from you! :)
    Please keep us posted!

  23. Wow.. last night: 1/2 hour intense training session focused on legs. Followed by 1.5 hours of hula. My legs were reduced to rubberands ! Sure felt good though. :)

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  24. It does, doesn't it? It always improves my mood to exercise. I did 50 lengths of the pool this morning (1250 meters). Tomorrow is an hour of biking. I finally bought an MP3 player yesterday and am looking forward to biking with it. I'm sure it'll make a difference - I always feel myself biking that much harder when a good song comes on the gym radio.

  25. I have been missing hula... we shut down for the summer - this is a special 6-week class. Really glad I signed up for it. Very difficult, physically challenging hula.

We will be doing alot of walking around tho!

  27. WI State Fair... in my home town. Enjoy JK !! My grandma used to live right across the street from the fair - before they built the freeway we could walk from her house to the fair.

  28. I know what you mean GD, when I work out I zone out! My trainer says I get so intense. I don't look at her, I don't talk I just FOCUS. For me I think it is the need to focus so I don't fall flat on my face! I totally fell off the wagon in Milwaukee but that Red Velvet Cheesecake was SO WORTH it at the Cheesecake Factory wtih JeanKit! YUM

  29. Yummy, MC!

The lady who did the 32 mile ride with me a couple of weeks ago came into the gym tonight. We've been looking at bikes to buy and probably will have those within the next week or two. Well, she came in with this idea of doing an MS 150 in two months..... :)

Posted 1 year ago by GreatDane #

  30. 20 miles on the bike this morning. It didn't feel god, but I got through it. Amazing how sometimes it seems easy and others, you have trouble even making it to 10 miles!
