  2. Love curry, love turkey and love potatoes - I'll have to check out the link when I get to work.

I was busy this morning. Swam 40 laps (1000 meters) with swim friend and then went and rode 30 miles by the beach. It was quite windy, but my average speed was better than ever, so I must be doing something right!

  3. I thought that recipe sounded delicious, too...and relatively healthy. Here is another one.

  9. It is HOT out (102) and it is WINDY, and I was stupid enough to try and fit in a ride between work, a pet expo, and dog walking, so I went out at 2:30 (yes, I agree, I'm an idiot!). Managed to do 23 miles and also combine said ride with a stop at the house where I'm pet-sitting, to take the dog for a walk.
Did I mention I'm an idiot and that the ride was awful? But I feel good for getting through it :)

  15. I did really well today; I did a bunch of sweeping up of cat hair, which worked up a good sweat, and then I went to the gym for a real workout. I also solved 2 mysteries that were interfering with my wanting to go to the gym; they put in new spinning bikes with weird controls that didn't make any sense to me, so today I finally asked someone to explain them. Then I figured out why my CD player was starting in mid-song instead of at the beginning. So, 2 problems (those are problems?) solved.

  16. Yay, Kilroy!!!!

  17. Thanks, WWM. Now I can use the spinning bikes properly, not get annoyed at my dumb CD player and just focus on my workout.

  18. Yay for you on figuring out the spin bikes, Kilroy!!!

I had a couple of bad exercising days over the weekend (but at least I got through them). Saturday was the 23 mile ride in 102 degrees. Sunday was worse. I rode with Bike Friend and had trouble keeping up with her, because she was doing 17-18 mph and I usually do 15-16 mph and it was very windy. Then it rained. My Blackberry in the saddle bag got wet and quit on me. I finally finished my ride (I went longer than the others, 51.2 miles) and knew people (including two pet-sitting clients) were trying to get a hold of me. Couldn't get the phone to work so after a quick stop home and a stop to walk a dog, I had call work boss and get the okay from her to get money from the register to buy a cheap phone (since I lost my only credit card and didn't have cash). Then off to walk another dog and finally to two different phone stores before I found a cheap phone I could buy to get back to people who were now frantically trying to reach me, knowing I had been biking on my own in bad weather.
As for today, I swam - can't bike because the pad on the bike shorts left cuts on my behind and I can barely sit. And a client's pet-sitting check bounced and I wasn't able to get cash to pay back the gym. (I will be tomorrow).
If tomorrow's no better, I'm staying home and barricading myself from stress, trouble and all that nonsense!!!

  19. I so overate this weekend. Got back in the saddle today. I had another nutritional counseling session with my trainer to re-eval my goals. It was good to do. She was very complimentary of my efforts. It's nice to hear some praise after the negativity of the weekend.

  20. Yay, MC!

With biking in the heat (when it's not windy and rainy - darn hurricanes!), at least I haven't been very hungry.

Posted 1 year ago by GreatDane #

  21. Agreed. Heat makes my appetite go away. Problem is cold makes it worse and we get lots of cold here.

  22. MC, NEVER compare what you do to others. We are all different. We have different tolerance thresholds, endurance thresholds, pain thresholds. In a word - you are your own competitor. It's you against you and no one else.

  23. Hmmm - today is not much better than yesterday. Today my microwave broke! GG just emailed me upset that his golf game was awful tonight - after the last week, I've had, I'm having a hard time feeling bad for him over a crappy golf game!

  24. Heavy duty exercising last night... trainer, followed by hula. Very athletic, up and down, hula. Actually have bruises on my knee from it (the hula that is)...sheesh ! Had Dad tell me on Sunday I was sorta fat (not directly, but in describing a woman he met and saying she was about my size, so 'she's not THAT fat)... and then trainer telling me last night I am losing too much weight and looking too thin ?!?!?! The scale has actually gone up a bit... but I know I am getting toned. *sigh* (need to be happy with who and how I am - not listen to every/any one else)

  25. 2p, your dad sounds like a dope(sorry, but he does). Listen to your trainer.

    {{2p}}

  26. Dad is 85, and I think the filter that keeps stupid things from escapting his mouth has been shut down. It bothered me for a day.... and I have since been able to let it go. He really never was good with the 'social graces.'
