How much formula should a two day old kitten be eating? How often?
The surviving kitten is currently taking 5 ml every 2 to 3 hours. He is sleeping from about 11 pm to 6 am. I have to wake him to eat at night. Mostly he is not interested in eating.
At 6 am he takes his 5 ml and then at 7 am he takes another 5 ml. Then he won't eat till 9 or 10 am. He continues eating 5 ml every 2 to 3 hours until 11 pm when he goes to sleep and unless I wake him and try to get him to take some formula he will sleep till 6 am.
Should I wake him or just let him sleep?

How much at a feeding for 2 day old kitten

You're lucky! looks like your kitty has a healthy appetite. Normal amount for them is 2-3ml every 2 hours - looks like you have a little piggy on your hands ;)It may be tempting to let the kitty sleep through the night, but I would wake him at least once (2am for example) for a feed. Tiny kitties have really complex bloodsugar issues. If their blood levels get too low, they become lethargic and dont want to eat anymore, so I would just play it safe if I were you.

Thank you. I was worried he wasn't getting enough. I know not to let them sleep through the night. Just like newborn human babies on formula the blood sugar gets wanky. I just wanted to make sure he was eating enough. He will eat that for me every time, but does a 2 or 3 ml for anybody else. lol

Oh, no. Oh Kelsy, I'm so sorry. You did everything you could, you fought for these babies tirelessly. Sadly, the mortality rate for orphaned and abandoned kittens is very high -- 20% to 40% -- so the odds were against you from the start. Everybody who has fostered kittens has been there, including me. It feels devastating, but during their short little lives, you gave them food and warmth and comfort and love. How awful their lives would have been without that.

I'm so sorry, Kelsy. You kept the little one warm, safe, fed and loved. His life wasn't long but it was everything wonderful that a kitten could need.
Sometimes a mama cat will abandon her kitten(s) if she senses they aren't going to make it. It's so hard to tell with tiny ones if they have a birth defect of some type.
He was loved and cherished his entire life.

We do think that the litter may have been abandoned due to problems with the kittens. I know the Mama cat was getting good food daily. She is not a feral. We now think it may have been my "fixed" female.
She vanished late last week (Friday the day before we found the first two kittens) and she suddenly appeared today. She had looked a bit like a fat cat last week and is not looking like her old slim self.
So now it looks like I will be going to a vet and seeing if she really is "fixed".
