  1. I saw a book on Amazon that got great reviews. A Game of Thrones, which is the 1st in a series. Anyone read it? What did ya think?

  2. Yes, I read it some time ago. It was very gripping, lots of horrific violence tho. I am trying to get up the courage to read the 4th in the series "A Feast for Crows". Have the book, but still trying to recover from #3. If you are into the roleplaying world at all, of warriors, demons, and the sort, it will appeal to you, as it has plenty of both. If you are not familiar with that type of literature, it may not be for you.

  3. oh, not into that at all. Plus, not much into very violent stuff. If you're trying to "work up the courage" to read the next in the series, I don't think it's for me! Thanks for the frank review pj!

  4. You're welcome! You're right tho, he has a huge following, and the series is very popular. There have even been video games built from it. Sigh, I should dig out the Crows and get it over with. I do want to know how it ends. Have to go check on and author an title of a series you may enjoy more. Be back later. Do you like historical fiction with a touch of romance and fantasy?

  5. I'm really looking for something much lighter...have a bunch of biographies, but not into them right now. Maybe I'll dig out some PG Wodehouse instead...quite a far cry from the above!

  6. Have you ever read Diana Galbadon? Her Outlander series was fantastic. Really engrossing and you get quite involved with the characters.

  7. Nope. Science fiction/fantasy? Not too heavy or deep? :)

  8. Well, it does involve time travel, but is set mainly during the time of the American Revolution, and events in Scotland leading up to that. I don't really think of it as heavy or deep, mostly you get so involved with the lives of the characters, you just have to keep reading to see how they solve their problems. And it is a really beautiful love story between the two main characters.

  10. LOL!!! Well, of course I read that as "martini"!!!

I adore the Gabaldon series. Outlander was the best but I have read them all. And, I am such a huge Jamie fan, that when we went to Culloden a few years back, I drug Mr. WWM all across the battlefield to see where Jamie was!!! Love those books!
