I have a aprox 7 week old kitten that was on hard food and the local pet smart told us to put her on milk replacement. She barely had any of the milk and she threw up about everything of the dry food she ate today. She seems worm free and has had her first set of shots. Im worried its my first kitten please help.

Hi Scott,her stomach is upset probably because of the change in her food. Do you have any wet food for her? At 7 weeks she should be on solid food though dry food is not particularly good for her.
Here is a good site to see how to take care of a young kitten;

HI, Scott, welcome to TDK.
I suspect BC is right, it's probably the change in diet. Wet food is definitely best for young kittens. If she still isn't eating and/or is throwing up after you've tried her on some wet tinned food, she may need to just go on pedialyte (electrolytes) for 12 hours and then if she keeps that down, you can try her on wet food again. You can buy pedialyte at a supermarket or we can give you a recipe for home-made pedialyte. It just keeps kitten hydrated while she's not eating.
But we are not vets, so if she keeps on throwing up and you keep on being worried about her, best thing is to take her to the vet :-) Let us know how it goes.

This is the recipe for home-made pedialyte:
Pedialyte:
* Pedialyte formula (from World Health Organization)...no preservatives so short life-span
* 1 cup water (boiled then cooled)
* 2 tsp sugar
* 1/8 tsp salt
* 1/8 tsp baking soda
* (this Pedialyte formula gives needed electrolytes & some sugar for energy)Combine all ingredients and warm slightly.
Make new after 24 hours. -
Thank you guys so much I am gonna try and put her on the wet food instead of dry food and if that doesnt work get her on the pedialyte and she has a vet appointment on weds so hopefully they will only have good reports. I adopted her from the SPCA and I hope she is ok.

Does she have a name, Scott? We would love to see pictures of her. If you like, you can start a Catster page for her (if you click on our avatars, you'll see our kitties' Catster pages).
If she can't keep the pedialyte down, she would need to see the vet sooner but hopefully this is just a passing bout of vomiting :-)
