MS recoils from the monitor and runs screaming through the house.
Yyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuuuuuukkkkkkk.
Skyron we have really tame spiders in comparison, our ugliest 'critter' is the weta and they are harmless, just really scary looking.

The first one ran over my hand tonight. I've slapped my hand bright red, still cant get the feeling of little spider feet running across my hand to go away. They can all die out as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure there is some other insect on the food chain that will take up the space left behind by them.

Roxysmommy, rain spiders catch birds. They live to be 40+ years old - I wouldnt put it past them to catch a small cat if they get big enough. If one of my kitties got hold of them I would grab the kitty, shake him untill he lets it go, and then run away with him under my arms.

Why the heck I thought it would be okay to click on those links is beyond me. I knew there would be spiders on my screen. I know I don't like spiders. I know my husband is outside and can't hear me call him to come check under the sofa for spiders before I put my feet down.
Now I'm stuck on the sofa, needing to use the bathroom, but afraid to put my feet down.

OW I have an orb weaver that spun a web on my car a month ago--can't wash the car because he is a beauty. Named him Stewart. Mini SM was calling him Stupid and I couldn't take that, so I said Stewart Pid and the name stuck. She still prefers Stew-Pid. Anyway he left me a present last night! The finest and most elaborate web yet with a nice sized egg sack. So it turns out Stewart is a girl. Now the thought of all those babies is just killing me--but I can't let that egg sack be destroyed. Mr. SM to the rescue. He is relocating the sack to a field near the base--plenty of yummy bugs for them all to grow strong on!
I used to have a death fear of spiders--actually had counciling for it. I think I am doing better--I relocate now instead of scream in terror!

Hasn't anybody else read Charlotte's Web?
Okay, there are some really nasty spiders about -- I got bitten by a white-tailed spider years ago and I still have the scar -- and probably the world could do without the bird-eating type but I do not want to live in a world where flies have no predators -- EEEEEEEEEK!
Besides, it is bad luck to kill a spider (except for the white-tailed kind. It is worse luck NOT to kill one of those).
Okay, NOW I'm going to click on Sky's links. Prepare for me to completely change my mind once I've seen what she has to live with....

Okay, how big does a rain spider get that is able to carry a kitten off? Just the thought makes me squirm. I have to say I hate killing spiders as I get nauseated. Prefer getting a glass and paper to capture it and relocate outside. I seem to have a moth issue in my new place. Put lots of cedar in drawers and cabinets but still finding them.

I love orb weavers! The first orb weaver I ever saw built a gigantic, beautiful web across my mom's patio. We used to duck to avoid the web as we went in and out of the back door. This spider was one of the spiders that helped me get over my fear of spiders.
