  1. well, i am finally in a better mood today than i was this morning.

i continue the suggested food addicts anonymous eating plan. i do have sugar cravings at times, but have not given in to them.

i was cleaning out my freezer this morning and found a bag of chocolate chips. i opened them up and poured them into the garbage so i wouldn't be tempted.

went to AA, where in the round table discussion, one man told me i shouldn't be there as i'm not an alcoholic.

i now have a few books to read - the 12 steps and traditions of OA, the FAA daily readings, The FAA First bite on the road to recovery, and the FAA the body knows. Lainey will be sending me her books as she is doing Atkins now instead of FAA.

I am feeling better, the next thing to conquer is sweet tasting non-caloric drinks such as sodas and crystal light.

my blood sugar numbers are doing much better.

after the sugar, i will work on conquering the fat.

i am going to do this. i am going to succeed. i am going to change my love of crappy foods with the desire for better health...

and thank you for your support...

  4. Cheri, what you're doing is difficult. But it will be so rewarding, if you stick with it!

I had to go the route of no flavored beverages at all. Just ice water. No sugared drinks, no fake-sugar drinks. I had to train my palate back away from the idea that if I drink fluids, they should taste sweet. Now all I want is ice water. (In the winter, vanilla or Earl Grey hot tea - unsweetened, and occasional.)

I'll have a very occasional beer or glass of wine (maybe once per month or less). But that's about it.

  6. Wow...I had trouble giving up the sugar soda a few years ago and now trying to give up the non-sugar ones but I do find it easier to drink water everyday...I do have a filter pitcher that I keep in the fridge and that helps too (water doesn't taste like city water then...)

  8. Do you have any mint growing out back? My favorite iced tea is green tea plus one jasmine teabag and some fresh mint all steeped together. It is so flavorful and refreshing that no sugar is needed!

You can do this and you will be healthy! Good for you on the chocolate chips, get the temptation out of the house.

  10. Cheri, congrats..takes a lot of self motivation and control to do that.... especially the chocolate chips, I would have been crying by then.
My mom has recently started a "no-sugar" diet and just completed day 2 yesterday (I think). Anyway, I wanted to share her blog site with you...she is really big into health foods, I'm very familiar with vegan diets etc.
    Again, congrats to you!
