I understand the 'wind knocked out of me' feeling. I felt that when I was given the diagnosis of osteopenia. I had been a heavy milk drinker all my life, active in sports... thought I was doing everything right. Apparently not. Can't fight my size, ethnicity and family history. Doing my best now with exercise. Knowledge is power Skyron... get as much as you can. We're all in your corner.

2P, my gran is a diabetic, and I've always looked at her and told myself thats not gonna be me. Thought I was eating right and getting enough exercise??
Kykat, I have polycycstic ovarian syndrome. Up till now my dr has been able to keep it under control with hormone therapy, but today my ovaries looked like cauliflowers on the scan - little cysts everywhere. And I fit the rest of the profile - low energy, underactive thyroid, I've gained 6 kgs that I just cant get rid of no matter how hard I try. I think the dr made an educated assumption. Thats the best answer I can give you; as for the nutritionist and measuring blood levels, I guess I have to figure that out myself. I suppose if I go see a nutritionist they can odrer the blood tests etc.

Make sure your nutritionist is a certified diabetic counselor. They should be able order blood tests, get you a monitor and advise as to whether you are even in need of meds or just a stricter diet.
PCOS is a hard syndrome to deal with. One of my best friends was diagnosed with it 8 years ago. The diagnosis answered so many questions she had always had about her health and chronic depression. Good luck with that journey. If you change your diet to be diabetes friendly and if you incorporate mor walks into your weekly routine, you may be able to make a dent into those 6 kgs. I have lost some weight since diagnosis and am working to get in more exercise to get the weight loss going again.

Joan, prayers for your niece and her husband, the loss of both parents (no matter the circumstances) is hard to deal with.
Skyron, good luck with the research on the dietary needs for yourself at this time.
Kinda of dragging today, not much energy at all right now, even the B-12 isn't helping but waiting for blood tests to all return and then I hope to find out what the problems are.

MC, with a mask over her face, walks into the cafe. She feebly raises a paw and says "hello". I am feeling lousy and I believe I have strep throat. If I could get some tea and hot soup I will stay over here by myself. How is everyone?

Evening all!.... HOLIDAY weekend!...... YAY!...... making steaks tonight, yummm!... roasted garlic broccli in the oven, and grilled endive with aged balsamic/red onion dressing, and sauteed mushrooms as a side for the steak!
*sighs* ....... Mr. AV opened a nice bottle of Merlot (from NZ) to go with it!.... speaking of Mr. AV, do you know what that sweet man did today?..... he went cat food shopping for me!..... (he likes them but is not cat-obsessed like me!)..... Cuddles can only eat the prescription Hills i/d so he had to go to the Bennifield counter at Pet Co. and get it!......
... thus, he deserves the yummy dinner!

MC raises a toast for MR. AV! Yay for him, he deserves a great meal!

MC, warm salty water gargles often(WWM- salt can be good). Please look after yourself. Hot lemon and honey drinks between salty gargles to soothe your throat.

AV which brand--Merlot is my favorite. Was thinking a glass of Bushmills myself--has been an amazingly difficult week. I see no end insight though. With the economy all belts are tightened, but now education is taking even further cuts. It sure hurts. In the end I say just plain teach like your hair is on fire (one of my favorite books) and all will be well!

MC Mini SM's room mate just got back from being sent to Urgent Care. She has 4 infections and is sicker than a dog. Mini SM said over half the girls on her floor are very ill--have been all week. And the kid with the compromised immune system--healthy as a horse! It seems that the vitamins, diet, and exrcise plan she is on is working to help boost that immune system. She is now making herself sleep 7-8 hours every night as well. You may have an icky infection because it sure sound like the same crud her room mate has. Please rest, drink fluids, and gargle with warm water. Most importantly remember that you are loved--snuggle with Wilma and Betty!

SM, we like the Yellow Tail brand of the NZ wines, and Alice White also - their Merlot and Merlot/Cab is very good, and I like their Pino Griso!...... however, MY favorite NZ wine is Monkey Bay (a savingon blanc)...... I have found that NZ wines have less sulfides that bother my allergies than our California wines..... don't know if they actually contain less, but whatever they are doesn't bother me like the Cali wines do!
wow!.... those steaks were yummy!.... I made a red onion/balsamic reduction to go on top, and it was TOTALLY DELICIOUS!

Oh gosh, MC - by all means gargle but you need a throat swap and if it's strep, you need to be on antibiotics asap. Poor baby!

AV, the foot is just about healed and the head will never heal (I fear that).
