When I visited San Francisco, the only thing I cared about doing was visiting the Ghiardelli place and taking a tour of Alcatraz---awesome!!

Oh so many choices! He is going to be so SURPRISED with all the options I have for him when he comes back! LOL I like the Ghiradelli idea and Alcatraz! But Santa Fe sounds just lovely.

If it were me...Santa Fe, and spend a couple days in Taos. Have never been, but so intrigued with the architecture, history and landscape of the SW. I guess any locale to visit would be indicative of the time of year you are planning your trip.

Oh, MC, have you considered San Diego? The absolutely most fabulous zoo in the world is there, and the wild animal park is also the BEST!! Stay downtown in the Gaslamp district... The weather there is wonderful year round, it's a beautiful city, with world class restaurants, too.... You'd have a wonderful time!

SMM, several years ago we were invited to the opening of the Santa Fe Opera. It was Madame Butterfly. The setting is spectacular.
MC, you really must give serious consideration to Santa Fe! It has everything - places to visit, things to see, wonderful restaurants, or just amazing scenery to sit quietly together and fall in love! ♥

Ladies, I lived in Albuquerque, spent much time in Santa Fe, Riodoso, & Taos (skiing & sight seeing), but, I still say San Diego is better, better & better, the restaurants on the beach at sunset.... the perfect place to fall in love ♥ MC, if you choose to go to SD, let me know, & I'll tell you the best places to visit for romance ;-) and, the best places for fun during the day!

Well, I have to admit that I love the multicultural aspect of Santa Fe. And having worked on the Navajo Reservation, I adore all of the fabulous Indian art and jewelry there. And there are fabulous museums. The restaurants are some of the best in the country. Bishops Lodge for a relaxing spa day - heaven. And sunsets - my goodness, you cannot beat the American Southwest for breathtaking sunsets. To me, Santa Fe has it all. Wonderful options in lodging, fantastic dining, outdoors activities, museums, intimate nightlife spots (Vanessie's) http://www.vanessiesantafe.com/ , romance..... it is the whole package.
