Premature labor.

(53 posts)
  1. I don't know what to do anymore, I don't know how to make my cat okay. She's one year old, she hasn't been spayed.. And I'm fearing she's going through a premature labor. I don't want to lose my baby, I'm going off no money right now, of course I got cash to feed her and keep her kitty litter clean, but these days the vets rip off people.. And I just can't afford it. She has been with me through so much, so many bad times... Of course I shouldn't have much to worry about, but seeing your cat spot blood.. Act cuddlier then usual, and not feel kittens moving is a freak out sign for me.. She breathes so fast in her sleep. I'm so scared..

  2. Hi Emma,I'm afraid that what your cat is going through is way over my head. I know how you feel about vets though but there are a few not like that. Please call around to all vets in your area even try the shelters and the Humane Soc,sometimes the HS can save you quite a bit of $$ but you know you need to act fast,we are here for you. Please start calling.

She may not be as sick as you think but we have no way of knowing unless she is seen by a vet.

  4. There are others who when they sign on can give you advise, some who have been around pregnant cats more recently than I have. Please check back frequently but also call around to the vets. I don't know what time it is there is Australia,is it evening or night?

  5. I just checked a world clock online, BC ad it looks like in Australia right now it would be the middle of the night. About 2-3AM depending on where she is located. Please check into finding a vet ASAP so you can get your little one the help she needs! Keep us updated!

  7. Thanks you guys. She's acting normal and eating well. It's just on the inside that I have no idea about. She's acting like my normal gorgeous girl with extra cuddles. Mm. I'll be ringing around tomorrow and hopefully I'll find a vet that will let me pay in parts. And it's 3.41am here, being stressed isn't letting me sleep, plus I'm trying to feel Bailey's belly every now and then to see if they're moving, or it's her moving..
My mood changes so much when I know something is wrong, I've been a moody, cranky and stressed out woman, it drives my girlfriend into confusion. ):

  8. I haven't had a preggy cat in years. I did find this on yahoo tho:
    www.vetinfo.com/problems-feline-pregnancy-queening.html
(finally found one that comes up,sorry for the wait!)
There are other sites with info for help too.

  9. Thanks jeankit. I've been looking at various sites too, I've raided google and screamed for help on FB just to see if I could get anymore ideas of what could be going on. It was a miscarriage idea first, then a urinary tract infection, plus another infection that I forgot the name to.. To premature labor to which she seems to identify with more. So the more I searched, the more I worried.. The more things I thought were going on when I was over reacting just made me harrass google some more. I even looked for ask sites, hence how I found this site which was definately a good thing. Now all I'm worried about is money, finding a vet, and Baileys health.

  10. How far along is she, Emma?

Posted 1 year ago by roxysmommy #

  11. My girlfriend and I have tried to figure this out, the best answer I could give right now would be over 7 weeks, but not exactly 9. Which pushes me back to a miscarriage.. But she'd be weaker, not eating.. And I'd hate to say it, but not with us anymore.

  12. P.S I've just contacted the RSPCA, hopefully I'll be able to see some good news about paying in installments.

  13. Emma, if you believe Bailey is 7-9 weeks along, then she may not be as premature as you think. If she is closer to 9 weeks then she may just be ready to deliver the kittens! Normal gestation period is 63-67 days from what I have read online. Keep in mind, I have ZERO experience with queens or delivering kittens. Here are some links I found online that might help you:

  14. Bailey is spotting blood, it has lasted for two days now. She's cuddlier then usual, staying inside.. Following my Mum alot .. Sigh. This is all so frustrating.. It doesn't sound like she's about to give birth, but I'll give her one more day just to be sure I'm not pulling her into the vets when she's near birthing.. I'm just worried about blood loss.. Is there such thing as a stillborn birth in cats?

Posted 1 year ago by Emma #

  15. She's sleeping too, mum has seen her trying to push but doesn't seem to think anything will happen. I've had pregnant cats before, but none seemed to bleed before giving birth to their litter.. And by bleeding, I mean dripping on the floor, leaking on sheets and constantly cleaning herself. So I'm just sitting in a confusing spot right now, I don't want to put Bailey in danger by waiting another day.

  16. Yes, Emma, there is such a thing as stillborn kittens. If she is bleeding that much, I would definitely take her to the vet so they can check her out. Better safe than sorry, ya know?

  17. I'm sorry I don't have the slightest bit of knowledge on this Emma but I really hope everything is okay- and I know vets can be expensive, hopefully you can find one who will work something out with you. hugs to you and your little one (((((bailey &emma)))))

  18. Bailey has started pushing this morning, I'm hoping it's not still born and they're healthy. I've left her alone for a bit as she moved behind a curtain, I guess she hasn't had a chance to nest yet. Thankyou everyone for your response, and your care. I'll update you. :3

  19. Oh good luck with the labor! I'll be checking back for updates& *coughs* kitten pictures!!?!?!? =) crossing my fingers for a successful and healthy happy labor

  20. If she won't refuse it, give her a big box with newspaper lined under her and some soft blankets/towels that you won't mind if they get a little nasty. Put it where she is hiding right now and see if she won't be more comfortable like that. Let us know how it goes!

  21. Wonderful! Please keep us informed. :)

  22. Unfortunately for Bailey, her kitten did not make it. It was a very long kitten too. I'm guessing from it's size it was a few days over the due date. I'm confused as to why, with blood.. The kitten was covered in an orange substance. It wasn't his colouring, as that was white with black spots. My Bailey is running around normally now, eating, still meowing alot.. And still bleeding from her private bits. She seems to block out that she even had a kitten at all. ):

  23. So sorry Emma... :(

Posted 1 year ago by 2 Popoki #

  24. I'm very sorry, Emma. It would still be a good idea to get Bailey to a vet. I don't like the fact that she's still bleeding. The RSPCA will help with veterinary treatment and spaying Bailey if you have no money. Check out the SPCA vet clinic closest to your area on the link Buttercup gave you.

  25. Vet. As soon as possible please. What you are describing is the 'miscarriage' process cats go through when kittens died inside the uterus. If the kitten was covered in orange stuff, it has been decomposing inside her uterus for a while now. You also have no way of knowing if there are any more kittens stuck inside her. The bleeding after the birth could very well be because her uterus is infected. She wont be showing any 'signs' of being sick, as the uterus is an excellent organ for containing an infection, but once that infection spreads into the blood stream, vets usually have to put the mommy cat to sleep because surgery to fix it would be too risky.

  26. Remembering she only just gave birth, so the bleeding could just be normal. She isn't bleeding like she got shot, and I had to sit through Mum telling me that she bled after her pregnancy. I'm giving her a bit. She only just gave birth. The orange stuff could also be vernix, it's what babies are covered in when they come on out.

Posted 1 year ago by Emma #

  27. Emma, Sky has loads and LOADS of experience. Her advice is the best you are going to get, outside of a vet. If I were you, I would at least ring a vet now and ask their advice, better safe than sorry.

Posted 1 year ago by jcat #

  28. I'd love to be wrong, but vernix in cats is a grey/white-ish substance. Orange is a very concerning colour.

Posted 1 year ago by Skyron #

  29. Bailey has stopped bleeding.

Posted 1 year ago by Emma #

  30. She could still have Pyometria and she could go into shock quickly. She must be seen by a Vet.
